Are the X Games ONLY for Generation X and Y viewers?

January 27th, 2013 1 comment

Will you get weird looks if your younger and are just into Motocross of they are? Or is it all good?

Quote:

"The X Games is a commercial annual sports event, controlled and arranged by Disney-owned US sports broadcaster ESPN, which focuses on extreme Action Sports intended for Generation X and Generation Y viewers. The games started in 1995."

Does that mean that group of people strictly? Or can younger people enjoy the games as well?

Thanks.

No, but the sports in X-Games do cater to younger viewers. That’s a very important demographic for advertisers to reach, so they support the games. If X-Games was of little interest and no one watched it would fail, due to the lack of commercial support.

Whats a good camera to get for extreme sports photography? Not gopro 600$?

August 17th, 2012 3 comments

I’m getting engaged in extreme sports photography, i want to know a good camera in the 600-700$ price range, i already own a gopro, so thats out of the question. I already plan on picking a couple more up. I just need something with clear footage and relative zoom so i can get that perfect shot!

Thanks

You can use a good entry level dSLR like the Nikon D3200 or Canon T3/1100D, but what you need is a lens like the 18-200 mm so you can get tight shots at different parts of the track or good wide shots on nearby corners.

That means that your budget is rather small for what you need for shooting any motor sports, which includes extreme sports.

I have a colleague who shoots X-Games and he uses an inexpensive Nikon D40 with a 70-200 mm f/2.8 lens and flash. With the D40, he can shoot at high shutter speeds, higher than the standard 1/200th or 1/250th second restriction of CMOS sensored cameras.

Cost wise this is the break down. A good used Nikon D40, about $350. A AF-S Nikkor 70-200 mm f/2.8, about $2,400 and the SB 800 flash, about $400

If you are planning on shooting video, then you can probably use consumer grade video camera like those made by Canon, Panasonic, JVC or Sony

What is the best extreme sports action camera?

Can u make a top 10 or just tell me what action camera should i buy for extreme sports?plz

Thx

Extreme sports as in the X-Games?

One of my colleagues uses a Nikon D3s and 70-200 mm f/2.8 lens with two remote flash units for flash fill.

Actually any camera that has a top shutter speed of 1/4000th second or faster and uses interchangeable lenses will do just fine.

What you you have now and what is it about that camera that makes it difficult for you to use shooting extreme sports?

Poll: What’s your favorite event in the X games (extreme action sports)?

From summer or winter….

I like hte Snowboard Superpipe. Nothing beats that.

Competition is going to be awesome next year. It could be the year Shaun White is overtaken with IPod and Kazu competing. Now that IPod added the 1260 Double McTwist, he has the chance to pull off the better run. Plus, Shaun White withdrew at the last minute of the Burton US Open which he probably would have lost.

It’s gonna be so intense next year!

I have a job interview for Burton Snowboards Shop. What kind of question should I ask? ?

The only experience I have with Action Sports is that I work at X Games for the past 6 years. 3 years volunteering and 3 years stafffing but been to many action sports events

what do you mean. I think it depends what departartment your working in. Well if it is the shop…then i am guessing they will hire you since you have experice with snowboarding but if your working at the flagship store then it depends what depatrment.

Information Regarding Extreme Sports Games

September 8th, 2011 No comments

Extreme sports are a popular twist to conventional team sports like basketball, baseball and football; celebrate your favorite trickster by throwing them an X Games Party!

The first step in throwing an X Games party is to decide whether or not to focus on one event or celebrate the entire category of X Games. Does the child prefer skateboarding to doing bike tricks? If so, use one event as the theme, and use the remaining games as a backdrop to support your theme.
