The two athletes tested out Bled Gorge before traveling to the famous Soca River, which fascinates with its beauty. Despite freezing water temperatures, Robert and Dominik put on a show at both locations.

Im looking to buy a lens mainly for taking shots of waterskiing and wakeboarding and ill be taking the shots from the boat. the rope is about 50-60ft so I would like to know what telephoto lens would be good for under $600.

In situations like that I prefer to have a variable zoom lens. It takes a hit on the f stop but the advantage of not changing lenses while bouncing in a boat with spray coming over the bow, makes it worth it to me. Not knowing what camera you have makes it difficult to be too specific. Depending on your sensor chip size the effective lens size will vary. In the 35mm world a decent 75-300 should fall well within your budget. Now if you have 2 bodies I’d like to set up one with a fixed 75 and a fixed 300 on the other – Just my preference I’m sure others will chime in with theirs.

Surfing, skateboarding, wakeboarding, snowboarding, bmx, moto x, looking for any words that come to mind associated with or words that may describe the lifestyle……even if not directly any activities that go along with these sports and thier lifestyles….

Hmm, I think of a lot of things when I hear Action Sports. Actually, some of them have to do with the Action Sports Industry conventions, but I"ll leave them out for now. Here is my list.

Extreme sports or games are activities involved in high risk. Are there rare or seldomly-said ones that we’ve missed, instead of the usual surfing, bungee jumping, BMX? Or ones that were always mistakenly categoried into other categories?

However you approach this discussion, the obvious similarities are unavoidable. Perhaps all the wake boarders and water skiers out there can fight it out amongst themselves?

Obvious similarities include:

• Water – I don’t think either side can dispute this one! The only slight advantage water skiers have here is that the word is used in the title of their sport. Other than that, the water is generally considered a prerequisite for both sports.

• Boats – This may be another tie. Waterskiing and wakeboarding generally require a boat with a motor, going quickly to be effective. The horse drawn wakeboarding championships, down the canal are yet to take off. Although that might be fun to see.

• Equipment – Wakeboards and Water Skis are likely to share some main ingredients such as carbon fibre, although whether you could make a pair of water skis by cutting a wakeboard in half is debateable! The days of wooden water-skis are long gone.

Oh here’s a good one! Which is easier to perform, wakeboarding or waterskiing? Some will say waterskiing is easier to grasp especially at beginner level, straight arms; knees bent and up as opposed to the slightly more complicated wakeboarding method. Is waterskiing based less on tricks and so not as cool? Many would argue, yes! Is wakeboarding a more technical sport?

I can hear the debates raging already!

What is an extreme sport and why is wakeboarding considered extreme and waterskiing not? After all, both involve clinging to a rope tied to a speeding boat, hurtling across the water!

I read an article recently that tried to define what the extreme in “extreme sports” is. I wasn’t entirely convinced with the answers provided, such as it’s related to demographics etc. Surely an extreme sport needs to be, well, extreme, regardless of demographic and era?

What do you call a fan of extreme sports anyway, an extremity perhaps, an extremist or maybe an extreme-ite? 

Are people still learning to water ski? Or is wakeboarding (known to be currently one of the fastest growing sports) going to make waterskiing redundant? Which sport is more televised? I know during my growing up days there used to be plenty of waterskiing on television. Does wakeboarding have the same pulling power to be a mass spectator sport?

Over to you sports fans, the ball is in your court, and the board is in your wake. One plank of wood or two? Let’s have an extreme argument!

Bigger, higher, further and more dangerous! The people of the world are constantly becoming more adventurous. Sport is at the forefront of the extreme revolution with new and daring sports springing up everywhere! From the now relatively established sports like wakeboarding to the wacky and frankly silly, extreme ironing!

It seems the human thirst for action and adventure knows no bounds, whether it is kayaking down the Congo or climbing Kilimanjaro and then jumping off the summit with nothing but an umbrella! Okay, so perhaps parachutes are used rather than umbrellas but how extreme would that be? Paragliding, only with an umbrella! (Don’t try that at home kids!)

Popularity for these sports is huge and growing daily and some of them have even found themselves accepted as Olympic events in recent years, such as snowboarding and BMX biking. This brings sometimes lesser known sports to the masses and encourages more and more people to get involved.

It’s reasonable to suggest that the explosion of these adventurous sports is shaping the way sport will be perceived in years to come. I don’t think soccer fans have anything to worry about, there will always be soccer but it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that some of these events may end up on college curriculums in the not too distant future.

How cool would that be? To look at your timetable and see that after Maths you have double wakeboarding at the local lake! The English language is already taking on new complex shapes as the extreme sports community expands into homes and families the world over.

The internet is jam packed full of websites dedicated to various shades of extreme sport. If you “Google” kitesurfing, for example, you will see almost two million results pop up! Make that more than six million for wakeboarding and a massive sixteen million for snowboarding! The revolution is in full swing and one of the great things about taking part is that you can often explore and experience some amazing parts of this great planet too.

So, hold on tight, grab your board, skates, chute, sail, boots, shades etc and enjoy the ride of your life as you join the extreme revolution.

The world of extreme sports, traditionally a man’s world, is slowly opening up to women. In Texas, and the cities of Houston, Dallas and Austin, women are becoming increasingly interested in three of the six X-Game categories: speed climbing, wakeboarding and in-line skating. A group of women was also invited to demonstrate their talent in freestyle motocross and both vertical (or “vert”) and street skateboarding. Although the women showed they were capable of creating excitement in the audience with their feats, the money available to female competitors is still an issue in championship events.

At a recent Xbox World Championship of Skateboarding, for example, the top three male street skaters took home a total of $34,000, while the top three females took home $3,600.
