Will we see the feminization of video games in the future?

January 3rd, 2013 18 comments

By large, modern media is pretty much "politically correct" and even feminized in certain area.

It seem like video game is one of the very few, if not the only form of media in modern society that isn’t "politically correct" and haven’t been feminized. As a gamer I’m glad, and hope that It’ll stay that way.

But will it stay that way forever? Do you feel that video games will become more feminized in the future? I really hope not.

Some games might be designed for women but boys don’t need to buy them. Boys and girls aren’t the same in general boys like action, cars, wars, and loud noise so they will make them games they like. If they want to get girls and women playing they need things females like. Wii is coming out with a weight loss game advertised to women. My niece who turned 9 today likes Wii basketball, she is really into sports like soccer and marshal arts but never played with soldiers like her brother.
Makers should target boys or girl or men or women when they make games not try to make them one game fits all. I have no interest at all in my boyfriend’s games they are noisy and fast moving like race cars.
No need to make boys and girls play the same games.

Why is there always lava in video games?

December 10th, 2012 3 comments

I’ve noticed that over 15 years of gaming, there is lava in nearly very video game that I play. Is there a reason for this? The only games that I’ve played that doesn’t have lava in it is Pikmin 1 & 2. Has anyone noticed this odd trend in gaming?

Of all the games I played since the SNES all the way to the Ps3, About 75% of the games I owned has lava in it. I guess every developer of the games with lava in them think having volcanoes and fire is cool. Only games that I know that don’t have lava in them are Saints Row, Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, etc. (any games made by Rockstar). A lot of sport titles (since they involve sports and not action) don’t have lava in them either.

I am on a quest for self-improvement. How can I efficiently become a better gamer?

December 6th, 2012 5 comments

I am currently on a campaign for self-improvement. A lot of aspects are involved. One thing I am upset about is that it seems that no matter how hard I try, I can never succeed at video gaming, despite the fact that I was awesome as a kid. It make me feel old. So what I am wanting to know to help is:

1.) How do I efficiently improve my skills in first person shooters, RPGs, action/adventure, sports, and strategy games (both real-time and turn-based)?

2.) I have heard that, in MMORPG’s especially, many people use macros to help them advance without investing so much time. In the past, this has frustrated me. Any insight into this?

3.) Can you use an external hard drive with Xbox 360 and Wii through the USB port? I’m finding that the new 120 GB hard drive for X360 is pricy, and I would appreciate if Wii had a hard drive.

If video game is part of your "self-improvement" list, you need to get a life. Yikes…

What is a good helmet or gun camera set up to use for playing paintball?

November 16th, 2012 1 comment

Im looking for something that will attach to a Tippmann X-7 or Invert Avatar Mask so I can video game play. Could I get advice on what gear to buy?

I’d recommend one of these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Super-Action-Sports-Helmet-Camera-30FPS-/180549502598?pt=Camcorders_Professional_Video_Cameras

It’s massively adjustable so it can fit the helmet no problem, or you can tape it to the gun. I use it for airsoft and it’s great.

One word of warning would be that if you want to mount it on helmet, you need to mount it on your left hand side (so it’ll be upside down) if you want to get the gun barrel in the picture, so you’ll need software to flip it.

Hope this helps

Which type of video Games would you develop ?

August 8th, 2012 4 comments

OK , so you got the talent in Drawing, Designing, setting game plans or whatsoever.

If you were to develop a video game, what would it be ? < RPG -Sport-Action -Racing etc etc > ?

Do you fee that you Own the Creativity for being a Developer ?
Which company would you join ?

If it`s for me, I`d chose Capcom or namco 🙂

adventure, decision making, countless quests, wide variety of weapons. Almost like fallout/skyrim mixed up with star wars kotor I&II, and some legend of zelda.

Most of all, i wanna make a game with the protagonist as a kid(about 15yrs) and he has Great powers. powers that surpass those guys in dbz. First half or quarter of the game is you conquering the world. Then the rest is about people from other planets coming to kill you. either that or ppl from the future.

To bad single player games arent popular nowadays.

I would join Naughty dog, bethesda, or square enix

What video game should I buy next?

I have a PSP and XBOX360. I would like to hear your opinions on what game I should get next. I’m looking for a good quality, reasonably-priced game. I am into war, action, and sports (mostly MLB and NCAA games). Thanks!

Hi Titan14151,
If you like sport – Get NBA 2k11 http://amzn.to/95FP6b?dg20sy

If competition is wrong then are these things wrong and if so what can we do to eliminate them from our lives?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071204113746AA49lCk&r=w

This question is in response to an answer I got on a previous question (the above link). Tell me what you think.

If competition is wrong then is it wrong to play sports, compete for a job interview, American Idol, video games, card/board games, etc.?

My answer is this, however I’d like to hear Answers users ideas on this topic.

What are the positive things and negative things that happen during each action?

Sports…how many raves and players getting shot have occurred because of competition. How many home disputes have been over someone watching sports to much?

Interviews…how many times have you stepped on people’s toes just to make sure you’re hired?

American Idol…how many people are belittled all in the name of competition? Is this healthy as a society?

Video games…how many people try to commit acts of crime because a video game displayed it?

Games…family/friend disputes?
Is technology more important than your relationships with people or God (if you believe in Him)?

Competition is not wrong in itself. It depends on the side you choose and the reasons for why you choose those sides. Let’s take your examples one by one.

Sports:

This is not wrong for the players because they are simply having fun. Plus any fans are just supporting their teams so it is not wrong. The sin could come in if you think competition gives you the right of way to start cursing. Cursing is a sin, competition isn’t. So just be careful with how you do things.

Job Interviews:

How can people get a job if they can’t compete? Competition here is not wrong but yet again it is the context as to what you do during the interview. If you are bad mouthing another person to get the job then that is wrong. However if you simply are presenting yourself the best you can then it isn’t your fault if they hire you and not somebody else and vice versa. So competition here is not wrong yet again.

American Idol:

I don’t particularly like this show myself, but it’s not wrong in itself for the contestants. The contestants simply are doing the same as the job interviewers. They are trying to be the American Idol and make it in the music business. Yet again, if they are talking bad about someone else then it is wrong. However, if they are simply trying to present themself to the world, then it is okay.

Video games:

This is another thing I’m not much of a fan of. I’d rather be outside doing productive activities then play games. However, video games and board games can bring people together. If you are simply playing to have fun with a friend or family member it doesn’t matter because you’re just having fun. If you are doing something bad then it is wrong.

Which kind of video game do you prefer (a) adventure (b) fighting (c) action (d) shooting (e) racing (f) sport?

christmas gift ideas?!?!?!?!?!?

June 19th, 2012 5 comments

i need some ideas of what a teenage boy might want, he likes sports (tennis, basketball, paintball), video games (xbox 360 maybe?), rock music (anything from zeppelin to green day), comedic or action movies, would electric guitar lessons be a good idea?

already bought his own PSP and ipod with money he makes on the side.

just throw some ideas out there, thanks!

Guitar Hero! I don’t know if he has it, but it sounds like an xbox 360+rock music = Guitar Hero. Or that new video game Rock Band. I don’t have any personal experience with that though.
Or maybe concert tickets? See if anything he likes is playing around Christmas time. I know our local radio station always does a pretty big concert right after Christmas.
I think guitar lessons would be a good idea (is he interested in learning?)

Good luck!
