Can I use a camera filter to improve the quality of sports video?

November 5th, 2012 1 comment

I was wondering if I could use a UV filter or Polarizer to improve the color saturation and clarity of my sport videos. Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

a UV filter does nothing for video. some film, notably Kodachrome, will expose in UV light giving an odd purple glow to sky shots, so many traditional photographers use the UV filter out of habit.
a polarizer may cut glare from reflected water, so if you are trying to photograph Koi fish, it is a big plus. It also cuts reflected glare from windows. So if you trying to shoot through glass windows of a luxury sky box, it could help. It can darken the sky to make clouds more dramatic, but only when shooting certain orientations away from the sun. if you pan the camera to follow the action, then the dramatic changes in the sky color would be most distracting.

Do you think is better to concentrate on a video game genre?

Do you think is better to concentrate on a video game genre or do you think is better to play all video game genres?

For example my favorite video game genre is action, do you think I should also play Adventure, Role-Playing, Strategy, Puzzle, Driving, Simulation, Sports, etc video game genres or should I continue playing my favorite video game genre which is action?

Thanks.

I think it is better to play whatever you want to play. I happen to play — and make — a wide variety of games, all of which I love.

Questions about the pricing of Adobe After Effects. Can you help?

September 16th, 2012 2 comments

I’m looking to edit Action Sports video with Adobe After Effects. I’ve never worked with the program, but I have done some research and the program seems more than sufficient for what I need to do. On the Adobe website, After Effects CS6 is priced at $999.99 USD. There is also an option for a Subscription of "One-Year" that is priced at only $19.99 USD. I got the initial impression that a One-Year subscription would be the full program but would expire after one year of activation, but the pricing of the one-year subscription seems absurdly low in comparison to the regular price. What’s the deal about the subscription? Also, would there be a large price differential in an older version of the product? Perhaps if I bought CS5 as opposed to CS6, would I save cash?

Thanks in advance for helping.

The subscription is a monthly payment of $19.99 ($239.88 per year).

There would be a small price difference between the current and earlier versions.

R&P: Define "skateboarding music"?

August 4th, 2012 13 comments

Tomorrow I’m going to the park for the first time in a few months, and it got me thinking of what "skateboarding music" would be. I’ve heard all sorts of stuff in skate videos, but what music do you think goes hand in hand with skateboarding? What genres/artists/songs?

BQ: Do you skateboard?
BQ2: If yes, what’s your favorite song to listen to while skating?
BQ3: Favorite song in your favorite skate (or any action sports) video?

Punk Rock can be considered skating music, I guess. Just play the Tony Hawk games, lol. The best one is "Break On Through" by The Doors:)

BQ: No, but my friends do. The only tricks I can do is a BS Shuv, FS Shuv, Fakie BS and FS shuv, Nollie BS and FS, switch BS and FS shuv’s. And, of course, and Ollie, lol.

BQ2: Whatever I have playing on my ipod at the time I’m actually trying to do a trick:p It’s usually a Metallica song, lol.

BQ3: I don’t watch skate videos, or Action Sports.

I need to find what song this is!?

Wanted clip from Prime Sports 1994 Ski Action with Rock N Roll song?

June 21st, 2012 2 comments

Any idea where I can find the Prime Sports video clip (the promo clip – short one 3-4 minutes between sporting events) which features skiiing action. The song played in the background is Rock N Roll… Goes someting like "Been a long time since I rock and rolled….". I dont need just the song – but the video clip too. Any help is highly appreciated. I had seen it on the Prime Sports channel in 1992-1994, and cant get it out of my head.

Yeah…easy. Youtube is one of the most comprehensive video websites, with millions of watchers and thousands of videos (at the very least!). Yahoo! Video also turns up a lot of videos (but those videos are all from other websites…or at least they mostly are).

Have you played the new Ultimotion Swing Zone Sports video game?

June 17th, 2012 1 comment

It’s a cheap Wii knockoff and since I don’t care about social status I’m willing to buy it if it really works good. If you have played it I would like to know if the games are good and if the swing action is comparable to Wii. If you haven’t played the new system then I don’t care about how lame you think it is.

Don’t know about the swing zone but we just bout the disney ultimotion princess/tinkerbell game for our 6 year old and it was a big rip off. The games are substandard and the remote doesn’t register your motions. Cheap knock-off is right. Not worth the money at all. Now this was a different game but I can’t imagine that the basic design is all that different. Just keep the receipt in case it doesn’t work out.

What is the CRAZIEST, ACTION-PACKED game have you ever played? (sports OR video games)?

What’s the best action sports video editing software?

I’d like slow-motion, freeze frame continuous play thing where the video keeps playing and leaves pics behind, I also don’t have a lot of money to spend on it. Thanks

Try sony vegas pro

Good songs for a sports video?

June 7th, 2012 6 comments

I’m making a end of season video of like pictures and footage for the soccer team.

Good songs to use during it, upbeat kind of songs that match sports and action and getting "pumped up"?

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Carl Orff – Carmina Burana from O Fotuna.

Its used in sports montages, and it pumps you up.
