IHMO, the best affordable, overall paintball marker for a beginner is a factory re-manufactured Spyder VS2 for $70. New is $99-$150. It is a beginner to intermediate level, electronic paintball marker that you can use it for both woodsball and speedball.

Whatever you decide, do yourself a favor and do not buy a Brass Eagle, JT USA, Stryker, or Viewloader brand paintball marker.

When are going to bring back the gladiator games?

February 6th, 2013 2 comments

With over population, food shortages, overflowing prisons, and generally too many people for our limited resources (not to mention TV getting pretty repetitive), when are we going to bring back the one sport that can fully revive the world’s economy? Think of the potential income of gambling, advertising, the massive amounts of jobs that come with starting a whole new sporting league, and the fact that even third world countries can supply people that can fight. So what are we waiting for? Answers anyone?

Unfortunately, the world view on this is that "in this day and age," such behavior is considered barbaric. The UFC had a difficult time gaining a foothold in the U.S. because of the difficulties associated with gaining popularity. Not too many people wanted to watch two guys fight it out. However, when you add rules and a guy in white and black, people are more prone to believe that it is "safe."
So why is it unlikely to happen any time soon? Simply because the right people haven’t found a way to win over the masses. In Rome, Caesar won the masses with his games. Today, there are other sports that win the masses and do not involve death. Nowadays, there are laws that govern nations and their actions (albeit they will be violated if the nations want to). Most countries do not advocate killing anyone, let alone for the public’s enjoyment. The world has taken a different standpoint from the Roman era and death is just not on the menu. Perhaps in the future it will find its place…

Is airsoft better than paintballing?

February 6th, 2013 4 comments

I’m wanting to do one of these sports one day but not sure which one, so which one is better?

Airsoft and paintball are two sports that should be able to coexist, but don’t. The sports both serve different markets. Paintball seems to entertain the people that tend to play "extreme sports". It is characterized by fast paced, hard hitting, action. Airsoft serves the more tactical crowd, who prefer teamwork and strategy over speed of action. Airsoft is also very commonly used as an effective tool for training in Military/Police forces. Also, I see a lot of people try to use the excuse, "people lie in airsoft since there’s no mark from the paint." I am an airsofter, but occasionally play paintball. And I have to say, I have come across more liars in paintball than in airsoft. Just because you get paint on you, doesn’t mean it won’t come off. I’ve seen many paintballers carry around wet towels to wipe of the paint to stay in game. Since there is no paint in airsoft, this sport requires more honesty and trust in your fellow players. So, in my personal opinion, I think you should pick up airsoft as a sport. It’s more realistic as a sport, the guns shoot harder and faster, the guns are more realistic, and its a ton cheaper. But, if you like running in circles, spraying at every thing that moves, by all means, pick up a paintball marker.

How do I quit my first job after just a few weeks?

February 4th, 2013 4 comments

I’m a High Schooler and I recently got a job as a secretary (excuse me, administrative assistant) at a local real estate company. But I have the option at another possible workplace, the chiropractor that I go to needs a person to come in a few days a week and answer the phone, nothing major. But I feel as though the chiropractor would be a better fit for me, calmer, and I’m interested in the chiropractic field, so the experience would be amazing. However, I personally know my boss at the real estate agency through my dance, and I know my supervisor due to the fact that she is an instructor for a sport I’m in. I don’t want to make any hard relationships in life, but I really would like to take this new job, could anyone tell me what the best course of action would be? Thank you!

well, it really depends on what you want to do… Stick it out or work for the other guy but either way give two week notice…

How do I photograph children sports events legally to sell the pictures to the parents?

January 31st, 2013 2 comments

I don’t want any model release problems, but I know I can’t get every kid’s parents’ signature.

How do other professional photographers do it?

My son takes pictures of kids in Pee Wee and High School sports events. He has a magazine in which he posts the pictures…he does not have to have permission if it is a public event.

I taught drill team for many years and we had different people over the years that took pictures at the event…then set a table up outside the gate and sold these pictures to the parents and friends of these kids, the following week. They did make money, I’m sure…. no one ever complained and all were excited to see and purchase the pictures.

Advice:
1. Don’t price them too high. These parents are out so much money for the sport itself, plus refreshments, and gate. Also, there are those parents without jobs or strapped financially and are really hurt when they aren’t able to afford pictures of their children.

2. Action pictures are great…but those expressions on the kids faces during the games are priceless.

3. If it’s at a school event…I would suggest getting permission from the Booster Club. Maybe offer free copies of the pictures for the annual..

4. Also, offer to take pictures of the kids with their parents or "best friends."

Good Luck!

How can I persuade my parents to let me try motocross?

January 21st, 2013 1 comment

I am 18 years old and i reaaalllly want to try motocross. I’ve never really been into sports. But ever since i saw this movie called Motocrossed, I’ve been kinda obsessed about this sport. I think the okmw reason my parents don’t want me doing this sport is because they are afraid i’ll get hurt. i am also sort of a girly girl. I know i’m going to fall down but i’m ok with that. Any idea how i can get them to let me try it?

well it might take some rebellious actions but if you are 18, they cant control. yes the might fund your college payments or car payment or food. But get a job, save up enough money, buy a bike, and tell them. They might get pissed, but they cant just cut off all your funds or love for you just because you bought a bike with your own money. you worked hard for it

How did paintballing start and catch on as a sport?

tdcassick1 is right. Paintballs/markers were originally designed to paint cattle and trees at a distance. The color of the paint would determine what action would be taken for the marked object.

Guys being guys they started shooting eachother. This grew in popularity and eventually evolved into the original "survival" games. Progress took this to "woodsball" and woods tournaments then into field tournaments. It’s continued to progress since.

The original paintballs were much harder than the ones today and really hurt when they hit you. They were filled with an oil based paint that rarely came out of clothing, or off skin, without turpentine or some other paint thinner. When I first started the pump pistols were the main markers, though semi auto markers were making it on the scene. It cost $50 to play at the indoor range and this got you the marker rental, the goggles (no full masks, just goggles), 2 ten round tubes of paint (plus the one in the marker), and 2 12g CO2 cartridges. If you wanted more they ran approximately $5 for a ten round tube of paint and $3 for a 12g cartridge.

How to start out in the print/promotional modeling industry?

December 3rd, 2012 3 comments

I am an aspiring print and promo model looking to get into the industry. My dream is to do catalogue and print modeling for alternative clothing companies such as Metal Mulisha, No Fear, Tilly’s, etc. and do promo work for the Action Sports industry like Monster Energy, Supercross, and even MMA. I have no experience but you have to start somewhere. My question is: where? If anyone with experience in the industry can help me get on my feet with this, I have looked everywhere but to no avail. Thanks.

All the promo models who parade around at the events are hired for the event through modeling agents. I know they get to look at photos of the models prior to hiring them as how they are selected. The same would be the case for any of the promo work and photo shoots. If you are interested in heading down this path you need to find out a few of the modelling agencies that are used by the companies and events and then try to get signed by one of them. You could contact either promoters of an event and get put on to the person who is in charge of organising the girls for those events or clothing companies and try to find out who they use. Many of the girls who end up either at the track or event or even in these catalogues often have no interest in the sport at all, they are just eye candy.

I need a list of games that feature a female playable main character?

Examples are: Bullet Witch, Bayonetta, Alias, Buffy The Vampire Slayer etc, (Action Adventure, Fighting) they don’t need to be Gothic related. For X360, XBOX, or PS2, no PC, PSP or PS3 games. No FPS, Sport-Fighting or RPG games, unless the RPG game isn’t actual Role-Play style.

Which is the best paintball gun for me to buy on a £100 budget?

November 14th, 2012 4 comments

I am looking to purchase a paintball gun for recreational purposes and i was wondering which model would suit me the best. I am on a £100 budget maximum but i would like to spend £60-£80. I am a novice to the sport so i do not know which is the best model for me to buy to start off with for a good price. I would like to find a reasonably good one. Any information regarding paintball gun models or good shops will be appreciated.

well, a tippmann. they are rock solid and highly upgradeable. although they arent the most elequent and pretty, they will last you for years. plus, you can get a super up’d tippmann for that money off pbnation, or ebay if you look hard.

after a tippmann is all personal choice. if you like speedball, i recomend a PM, ion, DM, angels, etc…..if you are still into woods, then either stick with the tippmann, or go with "Real Action Paintball". if you are doing both, go with a autococker, or automag as they perfrom exceptionally well in both.
