By large, modern media is pretty much "politically correct" and even feminized in certain area.
It seem like video game is one of the very few, if not the only form of media in modern society that isn’t "politically correct" and haven’t been feminized. As a gamer I’m glad, and hope that It’ll stay that way.
But will it stay that way forever? Do you feel that video games will become more feminized in the future? I really hope not.
Some games might be designed for women but boys don’t need to buy them. Boys and girls aren’t the same in general boys like action, cars, wars, and loud noise so they will make them games they like. If they want to get girls and women playing they need things females like. Wii is coming out with a weight loss game advertised to women. My niece who turned 9 today likes Wii basketball, she is really into sports like soccer and marshal arts but never played with soldiers like her brother.
Makers should target boys or girl or men or women when they make games not try to make them one game fits all. I have no interest at all in my boyfriend’s games they are noisy and fast moving like race cars.
No need to make boys and girls play the same games.

Tomorrow I will be taking pictures of high school wrestling indoors in a gym and soccer on an outdoor field. I have the Nikon D40 with18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses and I was wondering what settings I should use to take the best pictures for both sports.
Wrestling.
You’ll want to position yourself so you can shoot from a low angle, particularly when the wrestlers are on the mat. Frame your subject tightly and just keep shooting. What you are looking for is facial expressions which convey the stress of the struggle to those that view your images. I would suggest you use the telephoto lens. I would also suggest you use a flash as well; most gyms are poorly lit using florescent tubes, creating flat top lighting conditions.
Soccer
That will definitely require the use of the telephoto lens and to tell you the truth, 200 mm isn’t big enough. It can be done. You’ll want to move along the sidelines with the motion of the game, shooting only the action on the side from which you are standing. Action on the other side of the field will be too far way for a 200 mm to capture with good resolution.
Look for action where two players are battling for the ball. You can also position yourself to get shots of the goalie making saves. The key thing is to anticipate the action. If you see the image you want through the viewfinder, you’ve missed the shot.

Some kid is trying to tell me that soccer is more popular than hockey.. This is what I think:
1. Football
2. Basketball
3. Baseball
4. Hockey
5. UFC/Boxing/MMA/etc
6. Action Sports (BMX/dirtbiking, etc)
7. Soccer
8. Golf
9. Tennis
Is that accurate? What would your rankings be? Is there is an official survey (I heard ESPN did one), please link me!
I would say:
1) Football
2) Baseball
3) Basketball
4) Hockey
5) Soccer
6) Boxing/MMA
7) Action Sports
8) Tennis
9) Golf
That’s just me !(:
I know youre going to say its not the camera its the photographer, but i need to make sure this shoots good for fast moving objects.
Im a beginner and i like action photography, like soccer, baseball and skateboarding. Is this a good camera to start off with?
Is this a good lens to begin with for sports?
I have a cousin that plays soccer, one that plays baseball and a good friend that plays football and i would like to start shooting for their games. Is that a good enough setup?(If you recommend a different lens at that price range or maybe just a little more expensive, let me know).
And these are the ones that i really want once i get a higher paying job.
Don’t know about football but I’ve shot plenty of soccer. The 55-200 will do but see if somehow you can’t find the money for the 55-300 or better yet, the 70-300

Check out World of Goo. It costs $20 and it is one of the top games in 2008 that no one plays. It has received a lot of rave reviews and awards.

There are so many reviews at all the different web sites that sell cameras. Some people love the camera’s they bought while the person reviewing right after them will absolutely hate it. I’m on a budget up to $500. This camera will be for sports shots of my kids participating in soccer, hockey, and baseball. PLEASE HELP Thanks!!
At that budget, you may be looking at purchasing a used DSLR with something like a 55-200mm or 70-300mm lens.
A DSLR because they are the only cameras that have a small enough shutter lag to "catch" the action when you press the shutter release.
A long lens to be able to get good tight shots of the players.
You can buy a new DSLR for under $500, but it will not have THE lens you really need.

My camera has a 10x optical zoom and a ‘sports’ mode which predicts movement. I want to use it outdoors (eg soccer) and indoors (eg ice hockey) but my pictures are not particularly crisp, even at 7x5in size despite the camera having 8.1mp and coming with a zeiss lens. I use autofocus and depress the button half way down before shooting.
What am I doing wrong, and is there an easy way to correct it? Thanks.
I’m not sure why this isn’t working for you, sounds like it should. The only thing I can suggest is turn on your "auto-bracketing" feature or auto-bracket on a manual setting. It might help. Also, do you use a tripod? This would help, especially on a timer setting or with a remote shutter release, which would steady your camera & give you crisper pictures. Sorry, I can’t think of anything else.
