Why are videos that are supposed to be in public domain being removed claiming copyright?

January 3rd, 2013 1 comment

I’m specifically talking about the video of Ara Abrahamian jumping down the podium and throwing his bronze medal on the floor.

As distasteful as his actions were, they are most definitely videoworthy and now seems like video sites like You Tube have removed the video claiming copyright, and on another site, it says it can only be viewed in Sweden.

What is this?

Are there any video sites that are free from copyright entanglements these days?

The televsions networks pay huge amounts of money for the rights to the games. Any unauthorized use of their images is not allowed. You will here and see an anouncement about this at the end of most televised sporting events.

What would the set up of a 1930’s press conference look like?

I am doing a huge presentation on babe Didrikson and would need to know the set up, props, etc.) preferably for a sports press conference. Anything you can find would be greatly appreciated.

There was no TV, or there was, but nobody had it yet, and few cities even had a broadcast station, so no TV cameras. They did have newsreels, though, and that was like "delay action" TV. The conference would be filmed, then edited, then processed into a 20-minute film that would have the various news stories of the week. These newsreel films would be shown in movie theaters before the feature presentation.

Radio, of course, was the real communication tool of the era. Nearly 99 44/100% of homes had radio, and many homes had it on as long as people were awake. A conference would have had a podium and that podium would be covered with microphones.

Here’s a photo of the president (Roosevelt) at a press conference. Notice the bank of microphones? That’s the iconic image of a conference of the 1930s.

Information Regarding Weird Sports

September 6th, 2011 No comments

There are a lot of crazy sports out there today. It just seems to be getting weirder and weirder. Once you thing you have seen the weirdest sport possible, you will tune into a sports channel one day and see something that takes the cake (probably a cake-eating contest). While not so long ago it seemed strange to watch billiards on television the extent things have gone to in today’s world makes hitting a few balls around with pool cues look incredibly conservative. Why have things come to this? What is it about the way we live that makes us think such crazy sports would be interesting?

One such sport that actually has its own show is that of hot dog eating. This is absolutely true. The show consists of one guy or girl standing at a podium with a plate full of hot dogs and trying to eat as many as he can before the time runs out. There is a crowd cheering the competitor on and commentators discussing strategies used by the “sportsmen” to achieve their desired goal without getting sick. Half of the challenge tends to land with the viewer, who will likely be battling a case of nausea after watching this show for too long.

There are a lot of crazy sports out there at present. It just appears to be receiving weirder and weirder. When you factor you have observed the weirdest sport doable, you will tune into a sports channel 1 day and see some thing that takes the cake (likely a cake-consuming contest). When not so lengthy ago it seemed strange to watch billiards on tv the extent factors have gone to in todays globe makes hitting a couple of balls about with pool cues appear extremely conservative. Why have factors come to this What is it about the way we live that makes us feel such crazy sports would be intriguing

1 such sport that essentially has its own show is that of hot dog consuming. This is certainly accurate. The show consists of 1 guy or girl standing at a podium with a plate full of hot dogs and attempting to eat as most as he can ahead of the time runs out. There is a crowd cheering the competitor on and commentators discussing techniques made use of by the sportsmen to obtain their desired aim with no receiving sick. Half of the challenge tends to land with the viewer, who will most likely be battling a case of nausea immediately after watching this show for too lengthy.

A further sport that has gained an ever growing quantity of reputation is that of poker. When there is no doubt that it is alot more intriguing to watch and calls for alot more skill and mental prowess than hot dog consuming, it is nonetheless strange to watch an hour lengthy show purely based on many people playing cards. In years to come, will we be watching the solitaire championships How will we know who is winning

These new sports are funny to watch, but they are also a bit disconcerting as properly. In ancient times, sport was frequently some thing that was essentially a life and death scenario for those playing and the reason sport was designed by the elites of a country was to preserve many people distracted from the challenges of their nation, such as the corruption of their government. Have sports honestly gotten any improved due to the fact then Okay, so nobodys receiving killed but many people are seriously damaging their well being if they are willing to eat as considerably as fifteen hot dogs inside the space of a couple of minutes. And mixed martial arts fighting have not even been mentioned.

It might possibly be doable that just like the ancient Romans, governments of at present like their many people to take a keen interest in sports at the expense of taking an interest in the way their country is run. Absolutely this is the case in Brazil, exactly where enormous levels of poverty and corruption are rife all through the political method. The response by those in energy is not to fix these challenges but to concentrate revenue and attention on receiving the soccer team to the Globe Cup just about every 4 years.

Possibly it is time we took a step back and looked at the way we treat sport in todays society. When a small entertainment can be a high quality factor, there is no will need to acquire an interest in a sport that is ridiculous or to shed concentrate on our lives and start out to feel sport is the most fundamental factor of all.
