I don’t want any model release problems, but I know I can’t get every kid’s parents’ signature.
How do other professional photographers do it?
My son takes pictures of kids in Pee Wee and High School sports events. He has a magazine in which he posts the pictures…he does not have to have permission if it is a public event.
I taught drill team for many years and we had different people over the years that took pictures at the event…then set a table up outside the gate and sold these pictures to the parents and friends of these kids, the following week. They did make money, I’m sure…. no one ever complained and all were excited to see and purchase the pictures.
Advice:
1. Don’t price them too high. These parents are out so much money for the sport itself, plus refreshments, and gate. Also, there are those parents without jobs or strapped financially and are really hurt when they aren’t able to afford pictures of their children.
2. Action pictures are great…but those expressions on the kids faces during the games are priceless.
3. If it’s at a school event…I would suggest getting permission from the Booster Club. Maybe offer free copies of the pictures for the annual..
4. Also, offer to take pictures of the kids with their parents or "best friends."
Good Luck!
I have what the doctors call a "personality disorder". I can go from being calm and collective one minute to being full of anger and rage the next. And it doesn’t seem like it takes much to set me off. I don’t like a tough guy image. I don’t like for people to be afraid of me. It makes me feel like mabe I am crazy cause everyone seems to be afraid of what I might do. All I want to do is live a normal life and be successful at my goals. I am a talented musician and a pretty good athlete. Playing sports does seem to help me release some anger. But only for a short time. If I’m in a position where I have time to think. I can have one of those angry outbursts. I try to think positive. But it seems like sense I grew up in a violent and perverted environment its like my mind has been trained to think this certain way and I can’t seem to change the way my mind thinks. I want to change! But it is definately not easy. I wish it was! This is the type of thing abuse can cause in someone.
Wow, it sounds like you have been through quite a lot in your life, and are re-living it in your daily actions. Unresolved hurt does manifest itelf through anger or depression (which is anger turned inward), or self-inflicted pain, even pain to others we care about.
So, have you seen a therapist? If so, how long did you go? Did you really do your homework as far as what the Therapist may have recommended you do (writings, prayer, positive affirmations, confronting your abusers, etc.)? Not every therapist will work for you. It is like a relationship, you may have to go through several before you find the right "fit".
I too lived a childhood that was so horrific, you would think it was untrue. The things my parents did were unimaginable. They died when I turned 16. However, my brothers and I were left to drag the baggage of all they had done to us.
The good news is that you have a choice. You can chose to live as a victim to all that has happened in your past, or, instead, you can get some therapy, work on your issues, and rise above that. Listen, those who hurt you may have had the power at the time, however, why keep giving them the power? If you remain angry, bitter and hurtful to yourself and others, you just allow those people that hurt you to keep hurting you, yet, you carry the weapon in your hands this time. I vowed I’d not give them the satisfaction.
It is like an alcoholic who gets mad at someone and goes to a bar to drink it off, they go to "drink at them". They get stinking drunk because they are so angry, but ultimately, who are they hurting? They only hurt themself.
Evidently you want help. I hope you will be proactive and really seek some counseling. There are many well trained Therapists out there that can work with you. Don’t be afraid to "interview" them first either. Ask them how many people they have counseled that have experienced similar issues. Ask them thier success rate? Ask them if they themselves have experienced any of those same issues and how they overcame them?
Let go of being a "tough guy". In the end, you only succeed in keeping away those people who could ultimately love and accept you regardless of your past.
Love yourself first MOST OF ALL!
Good luck. Trust me, it can be done. I lived it. I live it still everyday, but made the choice years ago to slay my dragons. You can too!
I am 18 years old and i reaaalllly want to try motocross. I’ve never really been into sports. But ever since i saw this movie called Motocrossed, I’ve been kinda obsessed about this sport. I think the okmw reason my parents don’t want me doing this sport is because they are afraid i’ll get hurt. i am also sort of a girly girl. I know i’m going to fall down but i’m ok with that. Any idea how i can get them to let me try it?
well it might take some rebellious actions but if you are 18, they cant control. yes the might fund your college payments or car payment or food. But get a job, save up enough money, buy a bike, and tell them. They might get pissed, but they cant just cut off all your funds or love for you just because you bought a bike with your own money. you worked hard for it
We all have to work. We have jobs. We have hobbies/sports/activities that we choose to participate in. But most of the time it requires us to work at them, practice them, have some failures before we get better.
How can we encourage kids to be willing to work/practice and to view work/practice positively?
A parent is to lead their children through activities to completion and once a child sees the rewards they’ll soon be motivated to keep achieving… some children may take to this easily… some may need more encouragement than others… it is a parents responsiblity… also you half to help them through failures letting them also know it’s okay… parents also are setting and example by there own actions and activities…
My mom and I are really into the wii and that is our bonding time together every day. We have beat every game we have and don’t know good games to buy that we wont waist our money on . No sports games please though.

Trauma Center: Secod Opinion, Okami, and Twilight Princess.
Also, for mother daughter things, you and your mom could get any Legend of Zelda game. Puzzles and action, it’s a phenomenal series.
-P.S. Twilight Princess is a Zelda game for Wii.
I need some help coming up with a general layout theme idea for this years yearbook. The theme is "action", but it is not related to Action Sports, or the phrase "lights, camera, action". It basically is supposed to represent the ‘act’ of doing, and our own actions, etc. I’ve been trying to come up with something reoccurring throughout the yearbook that reflects the theme, but I have had no luck. Any idea/suggestions would be greatly appreciated (i’ve also made the covers too, so you dont have to relate it to the cover).
-Thanks
Take it from the Duck Tales theme song: lasers, race cars, airplanes. Also throw in motorcycles, explosions, and a flipbook thingy in the corner for the page numbers. Put flipbooks in all the corners. Finally, add some animals like monkeys and dogs, and healthy food (because apparently, that’s popular with parents of obese children). You’ll do well.
Like insanely obsessed to the point where they can hate other people due to their choice of teams to support? I dont think Ive ever obsessed over anything to the point I see some sports fans. I am just curious about some insight into what goes on in the mind of extreme sports fans. Is it similar to an addiction?
If anything, it has more parallels to religion. People select a team often as a kid based almost entirely on faith and background – do you like the Toronto Maple Leafs because they’re objectively a good team, or because you’re from Toronto and your parents have a few jerseys in the living room?
People generally feel assaulted when you attack (I use the term attack in the figurative sense) their point of view, and when that point of view is personified by some sports team, it’s reinforced not only by whatever beliefs they hold about that team, but by all the friends and sense of community they have that also surrounds that team. It’s like a cult.
My son is 11 today, but at 8 am today his teaching phoned to say he has beendisrupted in class.
He slapped a kids face for nothing and he managed to only write the date in a 1 hour class.
He is lovely, bright and polite but he likes to be the class clown and the problem is he is going to high school next year and his teacher is afraid he will placed in a lower group to his ability and then not bother cos the others won’t be!
He is very immature and acts the fool, but the other kids are maturing now and leaving him standing.
We are great parents to our two adopted boys and had a fair share of problems, but we punish him with losing his priveliges eg tv, pc, sweets etc but hes stubborn and can sulk for a week if punished… what can we do to helphim grow up and work in class…please help!
you are not alone my step son was the same way he always had to be the center of attention, but he is adhd too.with him starting middle school there will be activities he is going to want to do sports he is going to want to play and they don’t allow class clowns in alot of these because the coaches will not tolerate disruptions, disrespect to others, you may need to sit down with him and find out what he has in mind for the school year to come and let him now the terms of participation in the areas.my son wanted to play football, and we in-rolled him it and not a week later he got suspended for horse playing around and hit someone in the head, so there is consequences to their actions as they move up in grades, and plus they just came out with the bully law ,let him know that if he hits someone the other child’s parents can take charges out on him based on this new law, and it is not fun going in front of a judge at 11 or 12 years old because they make examples out of them and come down pretty hard on them, so just let him know that things change in a big way and his actions and out of the way comments could land him in juvenile detention and trust me he doesn’t want that, and neither do you it’s hard for both of you to deal with. good luck I hope that this will help in someway or another.
