Is there a digital Camera which captures a picture instantly?

January 17th, 2013 7 comments

I’ve had loads of trouble with pictures etc, every time i go to take a picture of a moving image ie. a horse, by the time it takes the horse has moved out of the picture! it drives me crazy!

You problem may have a lot to do with what is called shutter lag. All P&S cameras have lag to some extent or another.

Those who shoot action or sports photography use DSLR cameras … their shutter lag is measured in milliseconds instead of seconds like P&S cameras are.

Whats a good wireless flash trigger set up for a Nikon D3100?

December 28th, 2012 3 comments

I do a lot of sports and action photography, specifically snowboarding and skateboarding. What is a good quality wireless flash trigger that will work with my Nikon D3100? I would like something compact and light weight to avoid any clutter in my backpack. Any suggestions and/or stores/links would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Amazon has a non OEM remote that has been rated highly & cost less than Nikon’s unit. Keep in mind the wire less function works only in line of sight.

What extreme sport should I learn and master?

December 16th, 2012 1 comment

I want to learn a extreme sport so bad and want to be the best I can be at it. I am not rich or have a lot of money and I know a lot of extreme sports consider money. which would be the best for me to learn? I was looking more towards something with water or something i can do all season. such as kite surfing and in the winter switch to kite snowboarding? suggestions please and or advice

"mastering" any sport requires more than just randomly picking something for the reason of wanting recognition in it. People who master skills are those who love the activity so much they do it for their own personal gratification and because it is something they have access to and can spend a lot of time with.

Do you live beside the ocean where there is consistently good surf and also nearby to mountainous areas that have snowboarding opportunities? Can you afford not just the money but the time off from school and work to learn and practice your skills? Excelling in an "extreme" sport requires talent, drive and LOTS of effort. If you don’t have geographic access to the sea and slopes, something like mountain biking might be more within your reach — again, it depends on where you live. And, or course, your individual talents. Nobody else can choose that for you. Most of all, it should be something that you wildly enjoy doing.

Why are American sports dominated by sports that no one else gives a hoot about?

Baseball, football, basketball…

I really noticed this when, at work a lot of Europeans visited and they all talked about soccer, bike racing, extreme sports of all kinds. It was actually interesting hearing intelligent conversation about other sports for once, besides the stupid apes in America who chase a ball around like retards.

This was like a year ago, before the World Cup Soccer tournament too.

There are basketball leagues all over Europe, so I guess that blows a hole in your position.

And honestly, your oh so eloquent "chase a ball around like retards" bit can just as easily be said about soccer.

You claim to want intelligent conversation, only to throw insults around. That’s quite hypocritical.

How do I take clear and crisp actions shots with my nikon d3000?

December 10th, 2012 4 comments

I’m a horseback rider and like taking pictures of horses jumping at shows. I have found that indoor pictures especially are almost always blurry on the sports setting as well as most outdoors. I’m not super familiar with photography or cameras yet so sorry if this is a stupid question but i just feel like capturing clear action shots with a $600 camera should be possible and a lot easier than it has been. Thanks for all the help 🙂

The first situation to consider is the lighting–
The second situation is the subjects distance..
If your having a blur appear..you need to get closer..
You may also need to use a Shutter-Speed..of 1/500
A ZooM Lens requires more light..than a shorter Lens..
Consider shooting less ZooM..and Cropping your original..to achieve Zoom/
Large Resolution will give poor results in low light–
You might trry–>>1600 x 1200 [M3}..NOT Wide Screen..
Use a TriPod..and a Shutter-cable switch..
My camera has a 2-second TIMER–you might try that–on a TriPod..
I’ll use my 10-second TIMER on a TriPod for very difficult image capture..
But I would imagine 10-seconds would be a MISS–on all photo’s.

I am on a quest for self-improvement. How can I efficiently become a better gamer?

December 6th, 2012 5 comments

I am currently on a campaign for self-improvement. A lot of aspects are involved. One thing I am upset about is that it seems that no matter how hard I try, I can never succeed at video gaming, despite the fact that I was awesome as a kid. It make me feel old. So what I am wanting to know to help is:

1.) How do I efficiently improve my skills in first person shooters, RPGs, action/adventure, sports, and strategy games (both real-time and turn-based)?

2.) I have heard that, in MMORPG’s especially, many people use macros to help them advance without investing so much time. In the past, this has frustrated me. Any insight into this?

3.) Can you use an external hard drive with Xbox 360 and Wii through the USB port? I’m finding that the new 120 GB hard drive for X360 is pricy, and I would appreciate if Wii had a hard drive.

If video game is part of your "self-improvement" list, you need to get a life. Yikes…

what is the best lens for sports photography? and sports photography tips!?

December 6th, 2012 5 comments

I have a Canon Rebel T3. I take a lot of sports pictures mostly basketball and volleyball so indoor sports. I have a 18-55mm lens and a 75-300mm lens.. I usually use the 75-300 and I get really good pictures! but I was wondering if there are better lens’ for sports that wont cost more then around 200 dollars or so. thanks so much! or any tips on getting better indoor sports pictures would be great too!

There’s really no good lens you can buy for $200. Unfortunately, the price is everything when it comes to lens. For fast action, you need a lens with a large aperture. Unfortunately, the larger the aperture, the more expensive, exponentially. Check out the pros with those bazooka style lens, that what it takes to freeze the action from far away. But those will cost you tens of thousands of dollars.

What you can do is try to get closer to the action, that way you don’t have to zoom as much. Also, try to pan with the action. With enough practice, you can actually get a nice focus shot of a moving object. So like when a basketball player jumps up diagonally, pan your camera in the same direction. You can get some cool effects with the player being in focus and the background blurred.

Hope this helps,

What are the fastest growing hobbies and sports?

December 6th, 2012 1 comment

I am looking for a research list of the fastest growing hobbies and sports. I’m thinking paintball, poker, extreme sports. Things along these lines, but that is with no statistics or science. If you have any opinions from personal experience or even better a url for a research report, it would be greatly appreciated.

I actually think besides those extreme stuff, there are a lot of people conforming to hobbies especially examples like guitar and lacrosse. I stress the hobby guitar because In my school, I know a lot of people who play guitar, almost over 20, mostly because other people start it and other people think it’s cool; so these kind of hobbies seem to be more of conformity and cause of impressment instead of just doing it for the joy of it. However, as time passes, I think people who learn the guitar start to enjoy it more for its own utilization instead of impressing others and conforming to others. I would know, I think I went through this phase myself. With lacrosse, it is possible to join it without tryout unless it’s for varsity, I think that’s the reason why so many people join it (I don’t want to offend lacrosse players, so correct me if I’m wrong)

What could be causing my knees to crack?

December 4th, 2012 2 comments

When I bend my knees they crack. People can hear it. It sounds gross. I have try glucosamine, but I noticed my knuckles started to look bruised. So I got concerned it was acting as a blood thinner.

Do you think I should see a sports physiologist? They don’t hurt. Btw I work out a lot.

It could be cartilage damage from a number of sources. It could also be a form of arthritis (please note this usually has associated pain) . I think it would be a good idea to go to a doctor and get an xray to check for this. It’d be cheaper in the long run than paying for physio treatment when you should be doing something else.
Another two knee problems, commen in young women are (in non science language) a condition called chondromalacia patellae where the cartilage softens and another I’ve forgotten the name of where due to misalignment… the femur rubs on the bone. Either way this website has good , easyread info… just use the links on the left.

I’d say go to a doctor before a physio and discuss ALL the possibilities. If it’s not causing you any pain, it’s likely to be minor, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Hope this helps….
