When are going to bring back the gladiator games?

February 6th, 2013 2 comments

With over population, food shortages, overflowing prisons, and generally too many people for our limited resources (not to mention TV getting pretty repetitive), when are we going to bring back the one sport that can fully revive the world’s economy? Think of the potential income of gambling, advertising, the massive amounts of jobs that come with starting a whole new sporting league, and the fact that even third world countries can supply people that can fight. So what are we waiting for? Answers anyone?

Unfortunately, the world view on this is that "in this day and age," such behavior is considered barbaric. The UFC had a difficult time gaining a foothold in the U.S. because of the difficulties associated with gaining popularity. Not too many people wanted to watch two guys fight it out. However, when you add rules and a guy in white and black, people are more prone to believe that it is "safe."
So why is it unlikely to happen any time soon? Simply because the right people haven’t found a way to win over the masses. In Rome, Caesar won the masses with his games. Today, there are other sports that win the masses and do not involve death. Nowadays, there are laws that govern nations and their actions (albeit they will be violated if the nations want to). Most countries do not advocate killing anyone, let alone for the public’s enjoyment. The world has taken a different standpoint from the Roman era and death is just not on the menu. Perhaps in the future it will find its place…

How do I photograph children sports events legally to sell the pictures to the parents?

January 31st, 2013 2 comments

I don’t want any model release problems, but I know I can’t get every kid’s parents’ signature.

How do other professional photographers do it?

My son takes pictures of kids in Pee Wee and High School sports events. He has a magazine in which he posts the pictures…he does not have to have permission if it is a public event.

I taught drill team for many years and we had different people over the years that took pictures at the event…then set a table up outside the gate and sold these pictures to the parents and friends of these kids, the following week. They did make money, I’m sure…. no one ever complained and all were excited to see and purchase the pictures.

Advice:
1. Don’t price them too high. These parents are out so much money for the sport itself, plus refreshments, and gate. Also, there are those parents without jobs or strapped financially and are really hurt when they aren’t able to afford pictures of their children.

2. Action pictures are great…but those expressions on the kids faces during the games are priceless.

3. If it’s at a school event…I would suggest getting permission from the Booster Club. Maybe offer free copies of the pictures for the annual..

4. Also, offer to take pictures of the kids with their parents or "best friends."

Good Luck!

How can we can encourage children to have a positive outlook on work and practicing?

January 9th, 2013 6 comments

We all have to work. We have jobs. We have hobbies/sports/activities that we choose to participate in. But most of the time it requires us to work at them, practice them, have some failures before we get better.

How can we encourage kids to be willing to work/practice and to view work/practice positively?

A parent is to lead their children through activities to completion and once a child sees the rewards they’ll soon be motivated to keep achieving… some children may take to this easily… some may need more encouragement than others… it is a parents responsiblity… also you half to help them through failures letting them also know it’s okay… parents also are setting and example by there own actions and activities…

Will Talk Sport have any Presenters left by the end of the week?

December 16th, 2012 2 comments

I mean, James Whale , Jon (I say what the rest are thinking) Gaunt and now Rod Lucas have all lost their jobs. Rod Lucas today for being named on the BNP members list.

Who else is there to listen to on there? Nobody if you ask me.

I think Talk Sport are a bunch of cowards caving in to bleating liberals What party Rod is a member of is his affair. This is a clear case of censorship soon Talk Sport will be another PC left leaning station to please wet Guardian reading liberals praising the EU among other things. We suppose to live in a free country but this is crumbling every day because of the actions of militant and devious left " liberals" the term liberal is of course misleading as there far from it the term Communist is more fitting. We should make a stand for free Speech before its to late.

What jobs can I expect if I major in Graphic Design?

December 3rd, 2012 1 comment

I’m a senior in highschool who decided to do Graphich Design
when I go to college. I got everything, from grades, porfolio, recommendations, the whole package. What jobs can I be expecting when I graduate with my future major?

Whatever you want to do =)

Every major company needs marketing. A friend I graduated with loves video games so much, that he lobbied hard until he landed a job as a web designer over at Blizzard. I worked in an agency that catered to Action Sports, so I was able to to work for companies like Hurley and Quicksilver. I have one buddy who like to take it easy, so he landed a design job with a corporate bank and he pretty much just drops text and images into templates. There is alot of variety in graphic design if you look for it. Good luck!

How do you get jobs as a professional photographer?

November 7th, 2012 5 comments

I don’t mean for like weddings or small stuff, but like sports photographers.
I took a class in photography last year, and I really liked it, but I dont have any room left in my schedule to take more advanced courses.

First thing you have to do is build a portfolio. That is, get out there and take pictures. If you want to do sport photography, photograph every kind of sport you can, and print out the best. Be really strict with yourself here, and weed out anything that doesn’t take your breath away.
Then approach your local newspaper and see if they’ll take you on a freelance basis. That’s usually the way you start. That means they will call you up to take pix when they are short of a photographer.
Or you can get out and take pictures of community sports, really good action shots, and see if the paper will buy them. Time is truly of the essence here — if there is a game on Saturday, they need the pix Saturday nite to get in Sunday’s paper.
Once they get to know you, they’ll begin to call you (if you’re good enough) and that gives you a line in to a steady staff job when one opens up.
It helps if you can do your own editing too — clean up a picture, and make sure it’s as sharp as it can be.
Good luck!

Y doesn’t affirmative action?

apply to professional sports? For example, why is it ok to insist that the overall population be reflected in business jobs (yes, most make LESS than professional basketball and football players), but not in pro ball? What percentage of African Americans play B-Ball and Football with 6 digit salaries compared to the overall population? If whites in ANY field, regardless of ‘abilities’, were to dominate, they would be REQUIRED to allow a proportionate percentage of minorities into the positions, regardless of abilities…no, I’m not racist, just seeking genuine equity. Y??????????????

All men are created equal. (Women too, I believe!)

Whoever said that they remain equal for the rest of their lives?

Perhaps all are *not* equally gifted at sports when the come to the playing field. Or should the NFL be required to have equal numbers of women and men?

This entire question is ridiculous!

All adults are NOT equal in every respect!

"regardless of abilities?" In athletic competition?

Don’t make me laugh!

y doesn’t affirmative action?
