How to handle this anxiety disorder and move ahead in life?

February 13th, 2013 3 comments

I am a person suffering from a bit of obsessive compulsive disorder(ocd) and mostly religious part that is fear of committing unpardonable sin, eternal death or eternal suffering in hell from the age of 6.Also I was very shy and felt uneasy in social situations perhaps was suffering from social anxiety disorder.I felt intense fear, anxiety in my childhood about my ocd fear of sin for obsessive, compulsive thoughts about Gods, families etc. With the time it subsided. But social anxiety was still there. At present I am 22.Two years back I felt an unusual kind of problem in my mind where I got extremely worried about the problem of committing unpardonable sin in future sort of things. It seemed to me that something had got hold of my mind and completely controlled it. I couldn’t feel relaxed, always anxious etc.Thoughts continue to run in my mind despite of my efforts to neglect them. I felt that I couldn’t feel emotions and I felt anxiety all the time. The more I resisted it, the more it persisted. When I sort out a problem and feel less anxious another problem related to previous one used to pop up in front of me.Like “what if this happened in future”. After some time I decided to search on net about my condition. After intensive searching and reading I got some impression that I might be suffering from anxiety disorder. I used to feel anxiety many times before this and also depression but since the age of 20, for two years it is affecting me very much, I never felt like this before. I am not able to study, concentrate on anything and do a job or business. My memory is almost gone. But On surfing net, I found that there are some physical symptoms as well of anxiety. Like breathlessness, heart palpitations etc.But I have only mental issues. Then I think It might not be an anxiety problem because there are not any physical symptoms. I have searched on net about mindfulness, congnitive behavioral therapy(CBT), acceptance and letting go.But my anxiety is worsening. It is worsening because for the two years I am unemployed and have been unable to study because of this.and also age is slipping from my hand .I have already wasted two years. Being a socially anxious person, I think what people would think about me. An unemployed person. I am unable to manage my time.I put pressure and stress on myself for finishing every task early so that I can manage time effectively. But I am in catch-22 situation. Having not been able to study in this mental condition is worsening my anxiety. And that is causing more problem and I feel utter lack of concentration and relaxation and cann’t study.I am not able to experience my surroundings. It seems I am not aware of my environment.I find myself thinking all the time solution for this anxiety and all time I am in head and this is making problem worse. My financial condition is poor. What can I do at this time to relax myself and pursue my study and get a job which is possible if this anxiety comes to a manageable level. Also I live with my old age dad.We are two members in family. He is putting pressure on me for marriage because he wants to see me happy and not alone after him. But I think Why anybody else suffer because of my mental condition. At the same time I think that With whom I will live after my dad. There are many such questions in front of me at this time?I desperately want to feel in control of my feelings and emotions and want to relax but this desperation is bringing more uncomfort. There is social stigma attached if people come to know of my condition.Being a socially anxious person that is very hard to handle. Moreover a career, job can bring me some sort of security but who will give me a job without proper education and If anybody gives me a job , I will not be able to stay there for more than a week because my mental condition, lack of concentration and awareness, memory will land me in problem there. What to do? Please help me.

Here are 12 tips for overcoming anxiety, or at least alleviating it:
1. Lack of control over your thoughts, strengthens your anxiety. As negative thoughts get stronger, your anxiety gets stronger too. You need to learn to control your thoughts.
2. Feelings and emotions fuel and strengthen anxiety. You need to develop some self discipline, and learn to have control over your feelings. You also need to develop some degree of emotional detachment.
3.When you go to bed at night, and first thing when you wake up in the morning, think about the good things that are happening to you. There are always some good things happening, even if small and insignificant.
4. Start the day with several minutes of positive affirmations. Tell yourself how would like your day to be. Use positive, cheering and motivating words.
5. Be busy and do something, since activity keeps your mind off your anxiety. When you wake up in the morning, start doing something right away, and keep busy all day. Cleaning the house, washing the dishes or working in your garden, reading, studying, meditating, or exercising your body can help you keep your mind away from anxiety. Staying idle, and thinking about your problems and worries won’t make them go away.
6. Set a goal and work everyday to achieve it. This action will direct your thoughts and feelings away from worries and anxieties, toward something more positive and constructive.
7. Talk about your anxieties to someone you trust. Talking about your anxieties and feelings can alleviate them, and put them in the right proportions, provided you talk objectively, and with a real desire to get rid of your anxiety, or at least reduce its intensity.
8. Exercising your body and staying fit, is a good way to keep fears and anxieties away. You can walk, swim, do yoga, aerobics, or any other sport.
9. Find reasons to laugh. This will bring light and happiness into your life, and drive anxiety away. Watch comedies on TV, be with happy and amusing friends, or read something that makes you laugh.
10. Use positive words in your conversation and in your inner talk.
11. Affirm and visualize positive situations and events. Visualize a happy and positive solution to your problems.
12. If watching the news fills you with anxiety – turn off the TV! Limit the time you watch the news, and don’t watch anything that might upset you, before you go to bed.

Good luck and God bless you

How does a scrum work in Rugby?

February 8th, 2013 1 comment

I am new, yet enthusiastic to the sport of Rygby. Still filled with questions! So tell me, how does a scrum work?

scrums are used when a violation has a occurred and whoever the the violation was made against gets to put the ball into the scrum. the scrum is shaped like 2 pyramids with their bases pushing against each other. In the front row of a scrum you have a prop then a hooker then another prop. Their names imply their actions as it is the prop’s duty to prop up the hooker while the hooker, tries to "hook" the ball back to his/her team. The second row consists of 2 "second row" players. These are generally the biggest/strongest player and are the power source of the scrum. Next to the second row players are the flankers. It is the flankers job to keep the scrum from falling apart, and it is also their duty to tackle the other scrumhalf if their team loses the scrum. Lastly there is the 8 man. It is this players duty to keep the ball on the inside of their foot until the backline is set up and the scrumhalf retrieves the ball. if you are still confused here is a picture.

http://blog.huilaaja.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/play_rugby_scrum01.gif

the props are #1 and 3. The hooker is #2. The second row players are #4 and 5. The flankers are #6 and 7. and the 8 man is number 8. Also the scrumhalf is #9.

How many of you miss Howard Cosell after watching that moran Bryant Gumbel on the packer, cowboys game?

January 29th, 2013 4 comments

Who does Bryant Gumbet think he is? That was a terrible game he announced last thursday. Does he keep his job because of affirmative action? What a complete jerk.

Every time I turn on a sporting event and have to listen to someone trying to emulate Cosell, I remember that

Howard Cosell is King!!!!!!

Gumbel is both arrogant and a moron, every show he has hosted was a failure, yet they continue to give him big bucks.

Camera to take action shot both indoor and out door?

January 27th, 2013 1 comment

I am looking for a good camera to take fast action shot basically to use during games like basketball, volleyball, football etc. The camera must be able to take indoor sport photo as well. Please help me out. Thank you.

Good quality action photos in low light situations means you need a DSLR – no P&S will really perform well in those circumstances.
Outdoors on a bright day just about any camera will do a reasonable job.

How can I persuade my parents to let me try motocross?

January 21st, 2013 1 comment

I am 18 years old and i reaaalllly want to try motocross. I’ve never really been into sports. But ever since i saw this movie called Motocrossed, I’ve been kinda obsessed about this sport. I think the okmw reason my parents don’t want me doing this sport is because they are afraid i’ll get hurt. i am also sort of a girly girl. I know i’m going to fall down but i’m ok with that. Any idea how i can get them to let me try it?

well it might take some rebellious actions but if you are 18, they cant control. yes the might fund your college payments or car payment or food. But get a job, save up enough money, buy a bike, and tell them. They might get pissed, but they cant just cut off all your funds or love for you just because you bought a bike with your own money. you worked hard for it

How do I get into a good college?

December 30th, 2012 4 comments

I just started my freshman year and I know it’s early but now is when I have to take action. I want to get into a good college badly but I feel like I just don’t have the motivation. What are things that could get me motivated to try harder? And also what are good things that I can do that would look good on a application?

No, you’re actually really smart for wanting to start NOW and try and get into a good college, especially since college’s only look from your freshman year to your senior year.

-Study!
I know sometimes it can be really boring and you can procrastinate and put it off, but seriously, study a little bit of everything every night. You don’t have to study each thing for like 2 hours, but just enough till you feel comfortable with it. You always want to know the material well enough to where if you walk into the classroom and have a pop quiz, you won’t worry because you’ll feel confident.

-Keep your absences to a minimum!
Trust me. This is an important factor, just for the simple fact that if you miss a lesson or certain material, you can try and study and learn it yourself [like makeup work], but you’ll never quite really "get it" as much if you were actually there.

-Extracurricular Activities!
Sports, CLUBS [those are usually really easy], a job, etc. Colleges don’t just want people who are smart, they want people who can manage other things all the while, be able to maintain good grades.

Just imagine. If you start now and do your hardest at everything, once you see your good grades, you’ll be amazed at how that alone will motivate you. Imagine all the SCHOLARSHIPS you could get for college. That is a great feeling knowing you got into college for FREE based on YOUR hard work and dedication. That really is something to be proud of!

Best of luck! 🙂

Why are best actor and best actress different catagories?

December 24th, 2012 1 comment

I can understand why best actor/actress in a drama is different than best actor/actress in a comedy because the two are very different and hard to gage with proper perspective. But why are the different individual acting awards separated by sex? Shouldn’t we just have awards for best thespian in a ______ (insert show type). This isn’t like sports where physically, its very difficult to have men and women play together. Acting would seem to be a level field right?

It is now, but it wasn’t traditionally. In certain genres, actresses used to have a completely different job from actors.

It’s only since characters like Ripley and Lara Croft have come along that women have got to play action leads, for example, and those roles are still pretty rare.

I guess the academies and other givers of awards are always going to be behind the trend, but I wouldn’t be surprised if eventually there is only one award for best actor, regardless of gender.

Why do we not apply human ethics and morality to other animals?

December 22nd, 2012 10 comments

Please think about it. We slaughter animals for sport and for food, the way these animals are treated is inhumane.

Most commonly I’ve gotten the excuse that we treat them like this because they act wildly on their own. This is true, but we should not lower ourselves to their standards. And another excuse is because they are not smart enough. Well, what separates them from mentally retarded children then? If intelligence is the factor, how smart do you have to be?

And people who say this often turn around and say people who exploit and mistreat other humans of lower intelligence are unjust and immoral. But why, to the elites you may just look like breakfast.

Generally speaking, moral values are most stringent for yourself; then people around you / close to you; then people more distant, etc. In other words: in general, people believe that the welfare of those closest to them is the most valuable.

For example: most people believe that their own economic well-being is more important than that of others, and so will compete for a better job rather than cede a better job to one of their competitors out of concern for that person’s economic well-being that is above one’s own. When competing for a job, most people place their own well-being first.

The same is true of sports: generally speaking, a sports fan considers the record of their local (favored) sports team to be more important than that of any alternate team, and so will root for their favored team.

The same is true of nations: a person of a nation considers the safety and welfare of people of that nation to be more important than the safety and welfare of the people of a other nations, and so will support military actions in defense of their nation and will desire that the soldiers of their own nation are victorious over soldiers of the enemy nation, or will support economic policies that benefit their own nation at the expense of the economic advantage of other nations.

So a person’s moral values are much like the ripples made by throwing a stone in a pond: highest and most dear near to the person (the stone), less valuable and less dear the farther away from the person. For this reason, people generally morally value the lives of people above the lives of all other creatures. People believe that people adult should have the right to mate – but not pets, who are routinely "fixed". People believe that people should have the right to freedom from slavery – but not work animals, who are forced by indoctrination and pain and food to work at the whim of people. Etc.

In other words, most people consider people to be more important and more worthy and more valuable – from a moral standpoint – than any other species on the planet. It is actually a quite natural outlook, as described above: the well-being of one’s "own" people is always more important than that of others (self more important than immediate family; immediate family more important than extended family; extended family more important than city; city more important than state; state more important than nation; nation more important than world; humanity more important than other species; etc. etc.)

how to take action shots at night without blurring with a Canon PowerShot SX20 IS?

November 28th, 2012 5 comments

i take a lot of sport shots, during the day i have the camera set on the sport mode and i get fantastic photos, but when the light goes, and try taking shots at night at a sportsfield under lights, and still on sport mode, the pics are dark, but mainly they are very blurry, and not worth keeping.I have tried to take the same sought of photos on the Aperture mode, but the pics are too dark. Its all been very frustrating. Can someone help me please?

As mentioned, a P&S does not have the controls necessary to freeze action in low light, nor does it have a large enough sensor to produce nearly noiseless images at high ISO settings.

Here is what you could expect if you had the right tool for the job, mainly a dSLR with long, fast lens

http://s862.photobucket.com/albums/ab182/fotomanaz/Answers%20album/?action=view&current=i_AIA3008copy.jpg

That shot was made using a 300 mm lens with aperture of f/2.8 and a shutter speed of 1/500th second.

If you look on your camera, you will notice that none of those settings are possible on your SX20

What camera would you most recommend for action photos?

November 26th, 2012 2 comments

I am interested in buying a camera to take still photos of horses jumping, dogs jumping, and basically sport events. Do you have any ideas of what kind of camera I should be looking for or links to a good camera would be great!! thank you
x

I would recommend a medium-high end Digital SLR Camera (DSLR). A Nikon D60 will do the job. This camera takes exceptional pictures. It can seems like it stops time to take the photo.(The photos are that clear). Another plus for this camera is that it’s not hard on the wallet.
