I have a job interview on tuesday. It is at a baseball field for our city team. Any clue on what questions they will ask me?
Since you will be working with kids and sports i guessing, here are a few traits that will be helpful to have:
Patience
Encouraging
Friendly
Supportive
Coaching
Understanding
Teamwork
I would suggest you be able to think about scenarios when you have demonstrated any of these traits and be able to tell a brief story. For interviews, it’s called a SAR – Situation – Action – Result. Think of your story in terms of these and you will be able to talk about it clearly. Write it down or practice with someone so you will be comfortable in the interview.
If you can create a basic resume with your Name, Address, schools, extracurricular activities and sports along with any leadership roles. Have you done any jobs before – babysitting, taking care of a neighbor’s pet, mowing the lawn, etc? If you have list it, if not, don’t worry about it.
Prepare a few questions that you have about the job at the Sports Camp. Do some research on how long the camp has been in existence, what sports they offer and find out their reputation. See if you know anyone that has worked there before and talk to them about it. If they can refer you, that would even be better.
In the group interview, they may try & see how you interact in a group. Are you the loud mouth, are you the timid one, do you ask questions, are you annoying or can you fit it or take a leadership role? You don’t want to be the annoying one or too quiet. Hope this helps get you thinking and better prepared. Be yourself and you’ll be fine!
