Will we see the feminization of video games in the future?

January 3rd, 2013 18 comments

By large, modern media is pretty much "politically correct" and even feminized in certain area.

It seem like video game is one of the very few, if not the only form of media in modern society that isn’t "politically correct" and haven’t been feminized. As a gamer I’m glad, and hope that It’ll stay that way.

But will it stay that way forever? Do you feel that video games will become more feminized in the future? I really hope not.

Some games might be designed for women but boys don’t need to buy them. Boys and girls aren’t the same in general boys like action, cars, wars, and loud noise so they will make them games they like. If they want to get girls and women playing they need things females like. Wii is coming out with a weight loss game advertised to women. My niece who turned 9 today likes Wii basketball, she is really into sports like soccer and marshal arts but never played with soldiers like her brother.
Makers should target boys or girl or men or women when they make games not try to make them one game fits all. I have no interest at all in my boyfriend’s games they are noisy and fast moving like race cars.
No need to make boys and girls play the same games.

What is the order of popularity for sports in USA?

November 16th, 2012 1 comment

Some kid is trying to tell me that soccer is more popular than hockey.. This is what I think:

1. Football
2. Basketball
3. Baseball
4. Hockey
5. UFC/Boxing/MMA/etc
6. Action Sports (BMX/dirtbiking, etc)
7. Soccer
8. Golf
9. Tennis

Is that accurate? What would your rankings be? Is there is an official survey (I heard ESPN did one), please link me!

I would say:
1) Football
2) Baseball
3) Basketball
4) Hockey
5) Soccer
6) Boxing/MMA
7) Action Sports
8) Tennis
9) Golf
That’s just me !(:

What extreme sport should i do in my free time?

November 14th, 2012 4 comments

I’m 15 and I recently moved to Palm Coast, FL. There is absolutely nothing to do in this small town. I’ve been very bored with life lately and I need a hobby or something. All we do in this town is smoke pot all day because thats literally all we can do. I want to quit smoking and find something to do in all my free time which i usually just waste playing video games. I was thinking along the lines of an extreme sport. Please keep in mind that i’m also an adrenaline junky.

So rather than cycling, hiking, basketball, etc. all you do is smoke pot and/or play video games? And you need an extreme sport to break this cycle?

No.

You don’t go from some chubby lazy pothead to "extreme", activities like I mentioned above are your building blocks. You like one, you may move to something a step up. Like if you hate jogging, marathons will not be your thing, but if you get a positive rush from heights (not high, as in pot…stoner), cliff diving, rock climbing and other stuff may be your thing.

Start small, build up, learn, grow.

What sports can you make a good living off of?

November 11th, 2012 1 comment

What are some sports that aren’t like basketball, football, baseball or any of the huge sports that make insane amount of money. What are some that you don’t have to play college level to get drafted to the pros? Like wakeboarding, snowboarding, watersports, mma, bull riding, board sports, Action Sports, extreme sports, really anything.

very very very VERY few actually succeed in any given sport, and the more lucrative the sport, the more competition there will be. it is not a good career option

christmas gift ideas?!?!?!?!?!?

i need some ideas of what a teenage boy might want, he likes sports (tennis, basketball, paintball), video games (xbox 360 maybe?), rock music (anything from zeppelin to green day), comedic or action movies, would electric guitar lessons be a good idea?

already bought his own PSP and ipod with money he makes on the side.

just throw some ideas out there, thanks!

Guitar Hero! I don’t know if he has it, but it sounds like an xbox 360+rock music = Guitar Hero. Or that new video game Rock Band. I don’t have any personal experience with that though.
Or maybe concert tickets? See if anything he likes is playing around Christmas time. I know our local radio station always does a pretty big concert right after Christmas.
I think guitar lessons would be a good idea (is he interested in learning?)

Good luck!

I have to write a persuasive essay about extreme sports?

June 17th, 2012 1 comment

I have to write a persuasive essay about encouraging my friend to go for extreme sports like snowboarding, sky diving, and skateboarding. What could be some good reasons that they should try the extreme sports? i already have : for the thrill, that they might not be able to try in the future, and i need a third reason. so please give me some good reasons and explanations as to why they should do extreme sports.

Ha i wrote Persuasive essay on skateboarding two semesters ago…actually all my papers usually are about skateboarind

Well skateboarding and other extreme sports give you a different personal feel of accomplishment and satisfication. Skateboarding is a one man show you dont have a team to rely on ..and on a team your only as good as the rest of the players and with skateboarding everything you work for is done by yourself and when you finnally accomplish whatever your trying to do..like a trick or something…the personal satisfaction is far more then say a football player scoring a touchdown or something……Ill try a trick hundreds of times over and over…..and when i finnally land it people say i dont even look happy…but the joy i have from doing it is so great that i dont need to jump up and down and scream and cheer like a football player..i just do a little fist to my chest bump and continue going because the joy that i got from finnaly doing it is more then joy..its a feeling of being able to overcome something that was holding me back (the hundreds of attempts and finnaly landing it) ……. ..With most sports you only do them every soo often like basketball or tennis…but once your a skateboarder its a life long commiment thats your proud to be doing and you couldnt see yourself beeing labled anything but a skateboarder.

What is the best camera for taking close up action sports shots without them being blurry?

May 26th, 2012 3 comments

. I would like to take clear pictures of my son jumping hurdles in track and my daughter doing a layups in basketball. PLEASE HELP.

The camera does not exist. ANY camera can take blurry photos under those conditions, be it a low cost entry level DSLR to a multi thousand dollar pro camera. Conversely, practically any camera can be made to NOT take blurry photos under those circumstances with the proper skills using it.

No matter what camera anyone suggests, that is not going to insure you of not getting blurred photos. To prevent that from happening, you have to be the one who has knowledge of using shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and focus. THAT is what prevents blurry photos, not what kind of camera you have.

I will say that you should be looking at any of the entry level DSLR cameras made by Canon, or Nikon, or Pentax. Then you should invest in a lens with a large, (at least 2.8), constant aperture.
