Which memory card to buy for this DSLR camera?
It takes 14 mpixels maximum. I usually don’t shoot fast-Action Sports images. But I want a card that is reliable, low failure rate, and no problems with registering images to camera and transferring to PC with great speed? If you can, show me the brand or a link of it? Thank you!
That’s got to be an old camera, cards are in Gb these days. Are you mistaking sensor size with maximum card size? Even so all the memory cards I have ever known go up by doubling the size, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 etc. either Mb or Gb.
Most cameras these days can take SDXC cards which can be up to 2Tb (2000Gb), early digital cameras were limited to SDSC (Standard Capacity) which was limited to 2Gb, later cameras could take SDHC (High Capacity) limited to 32Gb.
I always use San Disc Extreme cards, fast, reliable, rugged, waterproof, guaranteed for life, and have the ability to repair themselves from corruption, though used properly you should not need this. Used them for years and have never had one fail – yet.
The speed of a card is shown with the cards Class, Class 6 is required for HD video, Class 10 is for cameras that can use the extra speed, you will get more frames at the fastest frames per second the camera can shoot at by using these fast cards. Not all DSLR cameras can use this extra speed within the camera.
Using a fast card reader with these Class 6 and Class 10 cards makes a huge difference when downloading a card full of images and videos, as an example a full Class 6 4Gb card downloads to my computer in around 5 minutes, a full 4Gb Class 10 takes under 2 minutes, both saving to two drives. Downloading to a USB 2 hard drive will slow this down a lot. It’s also dependant on the spec of your computer, number of cores, speed, Ram type and speed and using Sata drives or ATA.
It’s cheaper to buy 4 X 4Gb cards than 1 X 16Gb card and it has the advantage of not having all your eggs in one basket.
