Kiteboarding a Salt Island

February 7th, 2013 17 comments

Perfect sunshine and winds between 15 and 20 knots are usually the recipe for just another training day in the life of PKRA Freestyle World Champion Bruna Kajiya, but on the last week of September 2012, Bruna took on a unique challenge 13 kilometers away from the coast of Rio Grande do Norte state in Northeastern Brazil: kiteboarding on a salt island. Bruna was joined by fellow Brazilian standout Reno Romeu as the pair tackled the Agua Branca Salt Terminal, a trading post through which over 2 million tons of salt are commercialized every year. The glistening crystalline surface providing a kiteboarding medium unlike any other, and challenged these world class kiteboarders to adapt and conquer the new terrain. ___________________________________________________________

Ashwin seems to be losing himself in trying too many variations. What is the mid-course correction for him?

January 31st, 2013 7 comments

Sports-cricket:He is not getting wickets as frequently as he used to do earlier. Also he gives away more runs as observed recently.

Ashwin has too many tricks up his sleeve making him a junkyard of formidable repertoire! The existence of so many variations is the reason for his stellar test performances in the formative years at the international arena and is the reason for his ‘ineffective’ bowling nowadays! The urge to use these variations overwhelms his natural tendency of using classical off spinning deliveries! Look at Graeme Swann for example! He is a conventional offie and does nothing but keep the line and length emaculate wihout trying too many things! Yeah, sometimes he flattens the trajectory of the ball to keep the batsmen in a state of dilemma throughout! That’s a classical off spinner!

I too have noticed the blunt edge creeping into Ashwin’s bowling! When he tries to use the traditional off spinner, the carrom ball, the quicker delivery, etc etc, he tends to bowl the delivery short of a length giving the batter ample time to rip it apart! Lol! I have seen him bowling ‘leg spin’ also! This just reduces the chances of batsmen getting surprised! Vigilance is something that comes naturally to batters! Ashwin should learn to break through them!

Have you noticed the change in his bowling action these days? It looks ‘clumsy’! That’s one word I can come up with! The earlier action was a perfect high arm action which induced flight and turn! The recent action of Ashwin obscures the ball from the batter’s view (clearly giving him the mental edge) and bowls a tad roundarmish delivery! Heaven save the line and length it generates! Turn is also seen to deteriorate!

Another thing about Ashwin is that he is daunted by right handers, I feel! Coz he always come round the wicket to deliver! LBW decisions are thus, ruled out! Such a defensive mindset by India’s lead spinner will do a lot of harm to him and the team!

One should indeed have a word with him and ask him to ressurect his bowling abilities! Variations, as the name suggests, should be used as a change from the orthodox offie! Aggression is the key to his success! Keep the ball of a fuller length and tossed up trajectory to invoke a drive! Use variations seldom but emaculately! Lastly, somebody please change his action! Clumsy imbecile is the image he indoctrinates in the viewers’ minds when he uses that kinda action!

If Ashwin works on his bowling, he can be a success! He is talented, no doubt but this talent is latent! He has to allow it to manifest! India can’t afford losing another spinner after Harbhajan!

Cheers! 🙂

Felix Baumgartner’s supersonic freefall from 128k’ – Mission Highlights

January 31st, 2013 25 comments

Song: http://smarturl.it/tafreespacedout

After flying to an altitude of 39,045 meters (128,100 feet) in a helium-filled balloon, Felix Baumgartner completed a record breaking jump for the ages from the edge of space, exactly 65 years after Chuck Yeager first broke the sound barrier flying in an experimental rocket-powered airplane. Felix reached a maximum of speed of 1,342.8 km/h (833mph) through the near vacuum of the stratosphere before being slowed by the atmosphere later during his 4:20 minute long freefall. The 43-year-old Austrian skydiving expert also broke two other world records (highest freefall, highest manned balloon flight), leaving the one for the longest freefall to project mentor Col. Joe Kittinger.

How does one overcome a traumatic childhood?

January 25th, 2013 5 comments

I have what the doctors call a "personality disorder". I can go from being calm and collective one minute to being full of anger and rage the next. And it doesn’t seem like it takes much to set me off. I don’t like a tough guy image. I don’t like for people to be afraid of me. It makes me feel like mabe I am crazy cause everyone seems to be afraid of what I might do. All I want to do is live a normal life and be successful at my goals. I am a talented musician and a pretty good athlete. Playing sports does seem to help me release some anger. But only for a short time. If I’m in a position where I have time to think. I can have one of those angry outbursts. I try to think positive. But it seems like sense I grew up in a violent and perverted environment its like my mind has been trained to think this certain way and I can’t seem to change the way my mind thinks. I want to change! But it is definately not easy. I wish it was! This is the type of thing abuse can cause in someone.

Wow, it sounds like you have been through quite a lot in your life, and are re-living it in your daily actions. Unresolved hurt does manifest itelf through anger or depression (which is anger turned inward), or self-inflicted pain, even pain to others we care about.

So, have you seen a therapist? If so, how long did you go? Did you really do your homework as far as what the Therapist may have recommended you do (writings, prayer, positive affirmations, confronting your abusers, etc.)? Not every therapist will work for you. It is like a relationship, you may have to go through several before you find the right "fit".

I too lived a childhood that was so horrific, you would think it was untrue. The things my parents did were unimaginable. They died when I turned 16. However, my brothers and I were left to drag the baggage of all they had done to us.

The good news is that you have a choice. You can chose to live as a victim to all that has happened in your past, or, instead, you can get some therapy, work on your issues, and rise above that. Listen, those who hurt you may have had the power at the time, however, why keep giving them the power? If you remain angry, bitter and hurtful to yourself and others, you just allow those people that hurt you to keep hurting you, yet, you carry the weapon in your hands this time. I vowed I’d not give them the satisfaction.

It is like an alcoholic who gets mad at someone and goes to a bar to drink it off, they go to "drink at them". They get stinking drunk because they are so angry, but ultimately, who are they hurting? They only hurt themself.

Evidently you want help. I hope you will be proactive and really seek some counseling. There are many well trained Therapists out there that can work with you. Don’t be afraid to "interview" them first either. Ask them how many people they have counseled that have experienced similar issues. Ask them thier success rate? Ask them if they themselves have experienced any of those same issues and how they overcame them?

Let go of being a "tough guy". In the end, you only succeed in keeping away those people who could ultimately love and accept you regardless of your past.

Love yourself first MOST OF ALL!

Good luck. Trust me, it can be done. I lived it. I live it still everyday, but made the choice years ago to slay my dragons. You can too!

what is the best mode to use for everyday picture-taking?

January 23rd, 2013 7 comments

like is it portrait, sports, party, high sensitivity etc?

Each of these different picture modes changes the settings of the camera so that they perform best under those conditions. For example, ‘sports’ mode will try to use a faster shutter speed to freeze fast action, but each one is also a compromise so ‘high sensitivity’ will allow you to take pictures in low light without flash, but may result in lwer quality ‘grainy’ pictures. As you learn about photography – these are the things that you start to understand – each shot is a compromise between shutter speed (freezing motion) aperture (contol of depth of field) and sensitivity (quality of image).

If you are in a hurry and can’t figure out which is best, then put the camera onto full auto – most of them will take a reasonable picture, but if you have the time it is work trying to learn about the different modes.
