What are some good ideas for a photography club I’m starting?

I’m starting a photography club at my high school. What are some activities or projects I could organize to make it interesting and fun?

I used to belong to the Photographic Club in my old High School.

The school set up a fully functional Darkroom to cover all aspects of film processing, contact printing, and enlargements. The club was run by one of the Teachers, who also gave us full instructions on how to go use everything and produce good quality prints.

We use to pay a small weekly subscription to help cover cost of chemicals & photographic papers etc. We also made another payment when we actually used the darkroom for our own use to comer cost of materials used.

We used to have a monthly Photo Competitions with various themes.

Portraits, Coastal scenes, Country scenes, Close up photography, action, sports, insects, birds, animals etc. The list is endless.

As I left school we were just starting on Colour processing of Transparencies. We did not have the equipment for colour printing.

Hope it all works out for you.

Well you can always have contests…to see who can get the best shot of a specific object… =) You can also have critiques, they should be honest and meant to help each person improve their photography skills. The possibilities are endless. =]
