Want A Digital Camera That Is Waterproof and Shockproof?
The Olympus Stylus 1030 SW Camera has been touted as the toughest point-and-shoot camera in the world. 4 – Dust and Dirt Proof – The rugged Stylus 1030 SW is an ideal companion for an expedition in the Sahara, or take it to the beach. With its airtight construction it is impervious to dust, dirt and other particles. And when the camera gets dirty, just rinse it off with water.

7 – 3.6x optical wide-angle zoom The 3.6x wide-angel optical zoom allows even more of your subject to make it into each shot — perfect for underwater photography. The lens does not protrude from its body, so it is further protected from harsh conditions.

9 – In-camera panorama – The Olympus 1030SW camera panorama mode captures three images and stitches them together to create one amazing panoramic picture. 10- 2.7-inch HyperCrystal II LCD This camera is perfect for people with an active lifestyle. Can anyone tell me which would be the best waterproof and shockproof digital camera to buy?
I am looking for a digital camera that I can take with me for my new rafting adventures. It clearly as to be waterproof and shockproof. I don’t want to spend more then 300 USD.
STYLUS TOUGH!!!! All the way. I have literally jumped of a cliff with the camera (into water of course). I put it in my pocket when I’m jet skiing, dropped it hiking, and even let my Asian friend borrow it (who breaks every camera she touches) and still this camera lives. I bought this camera for the underwater features but found it took better pictures than my Casio Ex-s10 which was pretty good to begin with.
Only problem with the Stylus Toughs is they are kinda expensive. The 8010 is the best but it’s over $300, to many clams for me, so I hesitantly got the 6000 for almost the half the price and I couldn’t have made a better decision.
It also has a flashlight on it which is a sweet feature for camping and you can work it with gloves on by tapping the sides.
Amazon has the Stylus Tough 6000 for $189, just copy this link.

Panasonic Ts1.
The cover is made of metal like the Tough 8000. But this one has a superb video-cam HD video ( the Tough only records VGA video for only 10 seconds per clip).
The pictures are also better than the Tough 8000.
But if you want to buy an Olympus Tough, go for the 2010 versions (Tough 8010, 6020 or 3000) since the new cameras uses standard SD memory cards. The old version (Tough 8000 etc) uses Olympus’s proprietary xD card.
