SKateboarding/sports/action Photography, a blur???
Camera:Nikon d200
Lens: 55mm-200mm lens VR
When I was shooting a skateboarder today I kept getting blurry shots. What can I do to fix this? Will this happen when I shoot other sports?
Everybody else is right. Keep in mind, the VR (vibration reduction) in the lense only protects you against you shaking the camera. It doesn’t help you any if the subject is moving. Here are a few ideas:
1. Try using a flash.
2. Try setting up other artificial lighting.
3. Like everyone said, try using a fast shutter time.
4. Try making the aperature as large as possible.
5. Try a higher ISO (like 400).
Try using a faster shutter speed. It might be that your subject was moving too fast for the shutter speed you used.

I just got a D200 and i haven’t gotten a lens yet, but I work for a pro on his D200’s and you want to use fast shutter speepds and lower the f-stops all the way so you get the maximum amount of light at a fast shutterr speed. My boss..aka the pro..used to shoot race cars with his d200 that were going 500 mph so I’m sure you can stop a skateborder with a few tweaks of the shutter.

faster shutter speed and put it on the action setting.

In order to freeze action you will need a fast shutter speed. 1/250th of a second or higher. You should have no problem getting clear shots with this lens. Set your aperture wide open and your shutter speed at between 1/250th and 1/500th of a second. If you can’t do this and get a good exposure raise your ISO.
