Action Photography with the Speedlite 600EX-RT Radio System – 1/3

See how to shoot Action Sports in high noon sun using the 600EX-RT Speedlites. Learn how he overpowers the harsh mid-day sun and even creates a starburst effect shooting directly into the sun with high apertures.

In this series of tutorials, Explorer of Light Tyler Stableford takes us to the legendary Snowmass Terrain Park in Snowmass, CO. where he utilizes the radio functionality of the 600EX-RT Speedlite system to achieve a perfect balance of ambient and Speedlite lighting, creating dynamic action photos and portraits in tricky shooting situations.

Tyler also shows how the use of cameras such as the EOS-1D X and EOS 5D Mark III work seamlessly with the built in radio communication of the ST-E3-RT for complete control of all of the 600EX-RT Speedlites.

There has got to be …
There has got to be a cheaper solution in 2012 than paying 600.00 for a single flash…

    You can rent these …
You can rent these things for about $10 for the whole weekend. Yes they are expensive but you don’t have to own them. This is just what you have to do to get shots like this. Nice photos.

    That is nice but …
That is nice but talk about not practical. Last time I checked 6×6 was 36+ 300 for the controller makes 3900. What I don’t get is why he made the adjustments on the flash when he had a controller.

    I am not judjing …
I am not judjing the result, but the approach for this shoot is at, least, riddiculous.

Since no HSS is involved, one can achieve the same exact result by using cheap chinese flash units and and just a couple (or three at most) cheap radio triggers.

    Is that a joke?

    Is that a joke?

    Great results yes, BUT…

    9 flashes?
    plus the transmitter…

adds up to 7000$ just on the lighting equipment!
not including umbrella, flash holders batteries….

You can do alot with 7000$
