Is airsoft better than paintballing?
I’m wanting to do one of these sports one day but not sure which one, so which one is better?
Airsoft and paintball are two sports that should be able to coexist, but don’t. The sports both serve different markets. Paintball seems to entertain the people that tend to play "extreme sports". It is characterized by fast paced, hard hitting, action. Airsoft serves the more tactical crowd, who prefer teamwork and strategy over speed of action. Airsoft is also very commonly used as an effective tool for training in Military/Police forces. Also, I see a lot of people try to use the excuse, "people lie in airsoft since there’s no mark from the paint." I am an airsofter, but occasionally play paintball. And I have to say, I have come across more liars in paintball than in airsoft. Just because you get paint on you, doesn’t mean it won’t come off. I’ve seen many paintballers carry around wet towels to wipe of the paint to stay in game. Since there is no paint in airsoft, this sport requires more honesty and trust in your fellow players. So, in my personal opinion, I think you should pick up airsoft as a sport. It’s more realistic as a sport, the guns shoot harder and faster, the guns are more realistic, and its a ton cheaper. But, if you like running in circles, spraying at every thing that moves, by all means, pick up a paintball marker.

depends what you’re looking for. Paintball is a much better sport in my opinion. You actually know when you hit someone with the paint on their shirts… on the contrary you really cant tell with airsoft. I actually have a gun up for sale if you’re interested!

well i have played paintball way longer than air soft. I play Speed ball in paintball not rec or woods ball. Speed ball is more faster and not like war at all. If you like realistic war stuff go with air soft. Although u can tell when u hit someone in paintball you have to trust people in air soft because you could hit them and they may lie because they dint have paint on them the just had a plastic bb hit them. I love both sports. I dint know if air soft is a sport but it is fun. I play with a team for paintball and friends with air soft its really up to you on what you’d like to play. Maybe go watch some videos on youtube and see witch looks more interesting.

Someone’s trying to say that teamwork is more important in airsoft than paintball? He also asserts that paintball is about running around spraying randomly? He’s obviously just looking at the surface of things and he has never played in or seen a pro paintball tournament. It’s not individuals that win the championships. It’s teams!
I don’t understand the lack of recognition that tournament paintball is a difficult sport and requires good strategy, good tactics, and good teamwork to win. Just because you’re dressed like a military officer doesn’t make you a strategist or tactician of any level. Just because you dress like a motorcross racer doesn’t make you inept at combat.
Milsim paintball applies a more strategic level to paintball. Although I like to knock their love of inferior guns, woodsballers are indeed good at fighting in the woods. However many of the same tactics still apply from speedball to woodsball to airsoft. It’s all about combat strategy and tactics.
Is one better than the other? I think so. Up until now airsoft has always enjoyed the advantage of longer range. Paintballers have caps on their velocity thus they can only shoot a maximum of 200 ft, effective range about 100-150 ft. This is changing as technology keeps improving. First strike paintballs by Tiberius arms allows more straightline shooting, and longer range than ever possible. Accuracy is good too.
Given the doctrine that people will be people and no matter where you go you will have about the same number of cheaters in any given game, paintball is harder to cheat at simply because it leaves a mark. Yeah you can wipe it off, but it’s just as easy to not call yourself out when you’re hit with anything. A plastic ball, or a glob of paint.
That all said, it’s your own opinion that matters, but mine is that paintball rocks!
