How do we incorporate women into male dominanted industries?
Use "Sports Journalism" for your example
An industry dominated by men, with little opportunities for women
I feel though that the masculinity and macho attitude in the sports world is never going to go away in a certain field like sports journalism … do we need to dismantle the higher institutions before any real progress is made on an industry like sports journalism
I think it is up to the person individually to prove themselves & fight for the position. I think its silly to suggest that a field should be minipulated or forced to make changes to come off less sexist so women are able to get free passage without proving themselves. Yeah it might be a double standard but wouldn’t you feel better getting a job because you fought odds & didn’t raise a stink but worked your way up all on your own. Rather then forcing an instituition to allow you by whining that the playing field isn’t fair. I don’t support affirmative action laws & thats what your suggesting. Fight & work for what you want not whine & moan for what is harder to attain. I think affirmative action is more prejudice then sexism in itself. I would rather know I got a job because I was the most qualified or fought hardest to get it then because of loop holes.
Women can incorporate themselves in male dominated fields if they desire the position based on individual qualifications & work, not from loop holes.
Dressing them half naked would help.

You just have to prove that you’re worthy. It’s illegal to discriminate due to gender. Perhaps this industry is still dominated by men because females typically aren’t interested in it.

Why is it when an Industry is male dominated then there seems to be some sort of problem with that?
There are loads of industries that are female dominated…
you just don’t hear men moaning about not being able to get into them.
The fact that "Sports Journalism" is male dominated (it’s not as male dominated as you think by the way) is because men have a far far higher interest in Sports than women.
Working in that industry is a dream job for lots of men… why should they miss out so more women who only have a passing interest in sports can do the job instead?

Make them work for it at the same standards, and provide the same level of output, especially in popularly-driven arenas such as Sports Journalism where, love it or leave it, most of the fans are men.
Would men demand ‘equal billing’ in Ms Idiot Magazine? I doubt it.
