A Survivor’s Jump (Three Minutes in a Survivor’s Life)
Take a literal leap of faith with Jon, a ten year survivor of multiple myeloma (a chronic blood cancer) as he reminisces on accepting life’s challenges and recognizing its rewards while he and his daughter try out tandem skydiving in Ft. Dodge, Iowa.
Jon’s goal is to encourage survivors to connect their remaining abilities with activities that are both rewarding and fruitful. We need to avoid letting our diagnosis define us — we can’t let our brokenness absolve us from action or be a pardon from purpose. As a survivor, YOU may be freefalling EVERY day… find a way to tandem! There are thousands of local clubs and statewide associations that can help you and your family find peace and purpose. Let them HELP!

Thanks Justice, Chris, Nick and “Baglock” for taking such great care of us and to the Des Moines’ skydivers club for putting together such a remarkable (thirtieth annual!) event.
If we dare to dream BIG – someone will always suggest the inevitable fall is too risky – but do they know what it feels like to touch the clouds? Have they ever played on a bed of air? Have they enjoyed our planet from a mile-high swing?
It may be that those that dance ARE occasionally decried by those that cannot hear the music… but I saw the skies truly rain with people that choose to dance anyway!
