pls gv me some ideas how to do a impromptu speech?
its for the public speaking contest…..i need the way to do the impromptu speech (no matter what topic it is)……it hv to be done in five minutes after they give the topic….so, how can i do with that concised time?
Well, an impromptu speech is something you did not write in advance.
It is not rehearsed.
The theory is that it teaches you to think on your feet!
So obviously, if I write an impromptu speech for you right now, it will not be impromptu for you!
(Mind you, I am a bit of a loud mouth,, so I could probably do that.)
Now I admit, 5 minutes is a short time. So you have to pick a brief topic. Thus the history of the world, is kinda out of range here. So would a speech on WWII.
So pick something SIMPLE.
Pick something you are an EXPERT in. (So building a lightsaber, probably isn’t on the menu!)
Pick something that you could educate the rest of us about in QUICK time.
Pick something you care about.
Unfortunately, I do not know enough about you to give much help. Some of the following topics may be so far out to lunch, you will doubt my sanity….
1) A trick you taught your:
Dog, Cat, Baby Brother/Sister.
2) Why you bought a PC vs a MAC or vice versa.
3) Your favourite band, and why they are great.
4) Why you went to see the last movie you saw. This is not a recap of the plot and action. We only want to know why you went to see it.
5) Why you like to visit Y|A and how it has helped you. (Don’t mention the time some dweed did your algebra homework…)
6) Why you like to visit Y|A and how YOU have helped others. (Don’t mention the time you did not dribble’s chemistry homework…)
7) Why your parents should help you get a car now. (That might be hard to keep under 5 minutes!)
8) Why you like your favourite:
Book, Sport, Movie, TV show, Ice cream flavor, soup, food…
9) Why you hate eating: Liver? Peanuts? Chocolate?
10) Why your favourite teacher is a great dude or dudette.
11) Five things the school administration should do to make the school a better place. Leave out the idea about a pinball machine lounge… it won’t fly. If you use this idea, have an escape route pre-mapped (maybe).
12) Five things your hometown should do to help….
13) Do not enter the Obama vs Hillary debate. It takes more than 5 minutes anyway…
14) Discuss why you would like to visit a certain place, like, NY City, the Grand canyon, etc. If you have already been there, then why should anybody else go there?
15) Just how great is your school’s <NAME> team? (Baseball, football, debating club, etc.)
16) I just read this book. Here is why you should,/should not read it…
17) What is the most/least important thing to happen in your lifetime that everybody else either failed to make a fuss about, or made a useless fuss about?
Anyhow, that’s all I can come up with now, and it is nearly 2 Am, so I guess I am not too bright, and should get to bed. Which means there are a lot of weird people on Y|A. — Another topic!
