What should I do when bored without computer?

November 28th, 2012 10 comments

I need some help on what to do when I don’t want to use electronic devices. I have a tablet, kindle and a PC which I spend pretty much all of my free time on. Sometimes these can get boring and I have a major youtube/ifunny addiction. People normally find playing outside very fun, but I just see it as a way to get injured and do physical work for absolutely no reason (though i do like biking). I absolutely hate watching sports on TV like football, but I will play when my friends are over. Also, the reason I spend more time on computers is because I feel they create a whole new, more action filled world with events that usually happen in the real world. I usually like art and I am currently working on a painting, but I cannot spend a whole evening on it. I do not really have any good friends that live nearby. If anyone can give me some ideas on what I can do without all of my devices it would be much appreciated.
(by the way, I still get straight-A’s)
(By the way, I still get straight

Here are some more stuffs you can do, hope this helped 🙂

Go to the park, beach or mall
Watch TV, Family guy, American Dad
Bake cookies, Listen to music
Read one of your favorite books or poems
Write a story, Draw a picture.
Text friends
Prank numbers for fun
Learn how to play guitar or piano
Find something that you enjoy doing……

Who First Person Shooters are hurting or killing the gaming industry It’s cancer to gaming?

November 28th, 2012 3 comments

I mean they have been way too many of these games and we need more games aren’t shooters like rpg , side scrollers , platformers , action adventure , racing , sports , other types of games that was killing this generation for me because developers is focusing one thing is shooters and they know easy to make and there the money is because people of today only play is shooters nothing else which sucks back then people played different type of games not just shooters which people do nowadays .

Cause there are just too many people that like shooters
I love playing RTS
Before i played Warcraft, Starcraft, Age of Empires 1&2, Stronghold 2, Rise of Nations, Age of Mythology

There were many Strategies but now there are more Turn Strategies rather then RTS’s
Like recent RTSs are Starcraft 2 and AOE3

Yes there are other genre, like Total War, Civilization, Action WW2 games but no RTS

Everything will be ok, with RPG, Action games, Racing, Sport games(come out annually)

BUT NOT STRATEGIES, PEOPLE just became d*mn
So now i play RTS’s on those 2007-2009 graphics

how to take action shots at night without blurring with a Canon PowerShot SX20 IS?

November 28th, 2012 5 comments

i take a lot of sport shots, during the day i have the camera set on the sport mode and i get fantastic photos, but when the light goes, and try taking shots at night at a sportsfield under lights, and still on sport mode, the pics are dark, but mainly they are very blurry, and not worth keeping.I have tried to take the same sought of photos on the Aperture mode, but the pics are too dark. Its all been very frustrating. Can someone help me please?

As mentioned, a P&S does not have the controls necessary to freeze action in low light, nor does it have a large enough sensor to produce nearly noiseless images at high ISO settings.

Here is what you could expect if you had the right tool for the job, mainly a dSLR with long, fast lens

http://s862.photobucket.com/albums/ab182/fotomanaz/Answers%20album/?action=view&current=i_AIA3008copy.jpg

That shot was made using a 300 mm lens with aperture of f/2.8 and a shutter speed of 1/500th second.

If you look on your camera, you will notice that none of those settings are possible on your SX20

What video camera is like looking through an empty frame?

November 28th, 2012 2 comments

Any video cameras that are literally like looking through an empty fram. Great color, hd, stability and crystal clear image?

the frame like quality you ask about is mainly a feature of digital video and not the camera. HD digital video displayed on LCD HDTV has eliminated visible scan structure, "dots", color smear and line wave that was typical of the VHS/CRT era. Any consumer HD camera makes a photo like picture, at least when not challenged by motion. For Action Sports and similar activity, cameras with a very high bit rate like HDV or AVCHD in the 24mbps mode are better. For proper reproduction of scenes with very high illumination contrast ratios, a 3 CCD camera works best.

What are some good tips for sports photography?

I am doing a graduation project and im doing it on sports photogaraphy so i need hints and tips on it

Used multi shot think ahead so you will be in focus make sure that your speed is fast enough to stop the action. Shoot the practice and you will be ready for the real thing. Good luck.

Can I take legal action for my blown motor on my brand new motorcycle?

November 28th, 2012 13 comments

I purchased a brand new ’07 Kawasaki Ninja last week and it was making a knocking noise from day one. I called the dealership and they said it was normal, all sport bikes have a knock to them. I called another Kawasaki dealer and was told the same thing. On the 7th day of ownership, the bike blew up due to a manufacturer’s defect and they are not giving me a new bike, but rather rebuilding mine! Worst part is, I live in Michigan and our riding season is ticking away and I could be without a bike for another 3 weeks! The dealership and Kawasaki are saying there is NO WAY I am getting a new bike and that I have to live with a week old bike with a rebuilt engine. Does anyone else think I have a legal case to get a new one ASAP?

Nope,,no legal case.
There’s nothing in the warranty or any law which stipulates or requires that they give you an entire new motorcycle.

Most states have so-called "Lemon Laws" on motor vehicles.
Those usually specify an "Unrepairable Problem",,,and only AFTER a certain number of attempts to fix it,,,
AND vehicle being in shop a certain number of times,,,and for a certain Total amount of time.

The details vary from state-to-state

Sorry to hear the bad news,,,hopefully they’ll do a good job putting it back together for you.

Good Luck,,i hope it all works out OK

How much would a decent fully automatic paintball marker go for, at the least?

November 28th, 2012 3 comments

I’ve never played before, but I’m interested in starting soon.

A Spyder Pilot ACS is most likely the cheapest fully auto capable marker you could buy. They can be bought new for under $100 if you do a little browsing. Action Village has them pretty cheap but the web page isn’t working for me. http://www.actionvillage.com/AVI-Paintball/paintball-paintball-guns-spyder-paintball-guns-electronic-spyders

Beings your new to the sport I will tell you many paintball field don’t allow the use of anything other than Semi auto. Thus, you may not even get to use the full auto or burst modes on the marker at all. It only takes one mark the size of a quarter to be out, not 30 hits. A much better marker than the Pilot would be a Smart Parts Vibe http://www.actioncenterpaintball.com/paintball/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=32&idproduct=1019 or SP1 http://www.actioncenterpaintball.com/paintball/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=32&idproduct=1020. They are low pressure electropneumatic operated, thus they are quieter, have less recoil, wear out slower, and more efficient on gas.
When using a marker in full auto on CO2 you will experience major velocity drops and each paintball will go a shorter distance and be less likely to break on target. You will also begin freezing the internals of the marker and if you continue firing you can face some fairly serious damage to the marker that will put you out of the game until you fix it. The most common is freezing your O-rings, doing this will cause them to become brittle and become damaged much easier. It’s not a huge problem, but it can put you out of a game until you replace them. Using HPA/N2 instead of CO2 will fix these problems, however HPA/N2 tanks cost much more than CO2. A 20oz. CO2 tank will give you an average of 1100 shots per fill. to get about the same number of shots using HPA you will need to use a 68/4500 HPA tank. They will run you about $150+ new.
There are many more things you should know and I could tell you but I am very slow at typing and just don’t feel like taking the time to type it. So instead I urge you to go to http://forum.specialopspaintball.com/ and create an account, it’s free, and ask the members all the Q’s you have and what you should know about the sport of paintball. Many of the members are very well educated in paintball and are more than willing to help you out if you just ask. If you wish to contact me you can do so, my email is Brandon_Weigel21@yahoo.com

I need some help finding a website that has valid information about extreme sport injuries?

November 28th, 2012 1 comment

Hi,

For English 12 I need some statistics regarding extreme sport injuries (like skydiving..ect.) I need a website that has some stats about injuries..and those stats have to be valid. Thanks in advance

Daniel,
Rather than going to a web site, I suggest going to your public library. Ask for the Reader’s Guide to Periodic Literature. It may be in the form of light green books, CDs, or a web site only available to libraries depending on what your library subscribes to. It looks like the index of a book, except it covers all subjects and most periodicals. The index is the size of a thick book. It is easier to use than to explain.

If you have access to a college library, then there will be more resources available to you. Just ask the periodical or the research librarian for assistance. College libraries will also have more books dealing with this subject than school libraries or public libraries. You won’t be able to check out the books, but you can read them at the library.

If you have access to a university with a school of medicine, go to the medical library. Ask the librarian for help locating resources dealing with extreme sports injuries. You won’t be able to check out the books, but you will find a large number of resources.

What is one product missing from the outdoor world?

November 28th, 2012 2 comments

What is one thing you wish the a company could offer or what could companies improve on when it comes to outdoor products? Anything from gear, to apparel or even accessories. This include action-sports or just enjoying everyday outdoor life.

Thanks!

These days the trend is moving to a more minimalist idea. The Boy Scouts "Always be prepared" is considered an outdated idea because it requires you to bring a bunch of extra stuff that 90% of the time, you dont really NEED. To that end, outdoor companies are going back to the basics, getting rid of a lot of the bells and whistles and focusing more on 3 aspects:
– Weight: The lighter, the better, the less energy that has to be used
– Durability: Gear that lasts longer in less than hospitable environments
– Sustainability: It may sound "tree hugger-ish" but if a company’s gear is detrimental to the environment (from a resource, labor, or disposal perspective) then your customer base will not grow.
The next "big idea" in outdoor gear will be an interesting question to answer.
-Good Luck

What would the best selection be for a LCD or Plasma TV for an office conference room?

November 26th, 2012 4 comments

We would be putting up spread sheets and the like on the screen as well as power point presentations.

What features should I look for?
Brands and models would be appreciated. We are looking in the 47" or so range.

You totally need to be careful about getting caught up in hype over features that make watching TV or movies or such better. That’s not going to be an issue for you. But can add significant cost. So you can ditch those things and save a tone of money.

So ignore 120Hz/240Hz rates. Great for sports, action movies, and gaming. Way overkill for your needs (and adds a lot of $). Ignore LED LCD. Again great for other types of uses, but way overkill for you (and huge expense). But do go with LCD. I think that’s far better suited for the kind of corporate uses you talk about (a Plasma would be good if you were a TV production company only).

But I disagree with the other comment about 720p. I think you should go for 1080p to get full 1920×1080 resolution. Your LCD TV is just there to serve as a really large scale computer monitor really. So I would go with one with greater resolution incase you need it. If you want to tone down the resolution you can, but at least you have the option to do 1920×1080 if you want.

Definitely look out for VGA or DVI ports. That way its easy to hook up laptops to the TV. Most sets in that size range will have such, but just double check.

I would look to Samsung, Sony, Sharp, or LG at that size. I think you’ll get a good option from any of them. They are all top tier brands. As for some example options,

Samsung LN46B530 – 46" CCFL LCD 1080p 60Hz – http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN46B530-46-Inch-1080p-HDTV/dp/B001U3Y8OU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1257205600&sr=8-4 – $1,074 Amazon

Sony KDL-46V5100 – 46" CCFL LCD 1080p 120Hz – http://www.amazon.com/Sony-BRAVIA-KDL-46V5100-46-Inch-1080p/dp/B001T9N0EO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1257205829&sr=1-1 – $1,099 Amazon (normally I wouldn’t bother with the 120Hz, but Sony gives it to you here at a decent price)

Sharp Aquos LC46D65U – 46" CCFL LCD 1080p 60Hz – http://www.amazon.com/Sharp-Aquos-LC46D65U-46-Inch-1080p/dp/B001E8YQ1Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1257205920&sr=1-1 – $950 Amazon

All of those have VGA PC inputs. So you’d be in good shape. Any of those would serve you well. I kind of like the Sony option as it falls within a similar price range as the others but adds in the 120Hz. Again, while not necessary for your needs, it could be had for a decent price and so if you ended up showing something with some fast motion on it for some reason, it would be a bit better suited than the other choices.

Also use cnet.com to do your own review checks if you want.
