what camera would you suggest for taking pictures of sports (games)? action…

Canon 1D Mark III. At 10fps and a 110 image buffer you should be able to get the shot. But if a camera priced in the thousands is too much then….

Canon 40D is a great alternative. 6.5 fps (Bufffer 75 JPEGs), Fast autofocus, easy to use. And at $1200-1500 without / with lens is a good deal really.

Depends on your budget, and whether you are going to use it for any other photography.

A DSLR will give you the most options, but they also cost the most. You can start off with something like a Rebel XTi and a 75-300 mm lens "relatively" inexpensively. It may still be tough to shoot night games, but on a sunny day you’ll have a lot of fun!

at the moment the best slr camera in the world for taking sporst images is the nikon d3. but if you are a canon person, the 1d mk3 should do just fine.
